The atmosphere was charged, like the calm before a storm. Behind me, a group of officers stood, waiting for my signal to charge. The plan was simple, but the stakes were high: distract the guards, slip into the building, and secure Ahana before they even had a chance to react. I couldn’t afford to alert them to my presence—they would harm her without hesitation. I had to get to her first.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted one of the guards making his way towards the bushes, his steps muffled by the dense trees. I held my breath, blending into the shadows. As soon as he was close enough, I emerged from my hiding spot, my movement swift and calculated. Before he could even register my presence, I snapped his neck, sending him to the ground without a sound. The life drained from his eyes as oxygen left his body, and I quickly collected his weapon, slipping back into the cover of the trees.
The delay didn’t go unnoticed. I could see the other guards start to stir, moving cautiously in the same direction, likely looking for their missing comrade. I signaled to the officers, and they executed the plan flawlessly. Within moments, the guards were neutralized, one by one. Now, there were only two left at the gate, but they were distracted.
I motioned to my men to create a ruckus in the bushes, and as expected, the guards reacted. They began heading toward the noise, their weapons drawn. But they hadn’t anticipated our next move. From the same direction, we released a dog—trained, fierce, and relentless.
"Ah, it’s just a dog," one of the guards muttered, dismissing the noise as nothing more than an animal. His last words were barely out before the beast pounced. The scream was cut short, and within seconds, the guard was down.
Now, only one remained. The last guard at the front gate, standing unaware that his fate was sealed. I silently moved toward him, my steps nearly inaudible. He called out for his comrades, clearly unaware that they were already dead.
"Hey man, come out!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the still air.
I tapped him lightly on the shoulder, and as he spun around, I delivered a crushing punch straight to his throat. He gasped for air, but it was too late. Blood oozed from his ears, his body jerking once before collapsing to the ground in a heap.
