Y/n Long (Gp)
" What the hell?"I said aloud lowly to myself as I pulled up to my house seeing movers moving multiple things into my house.
"Aye man, what y'all doing?!"I said to one who was helping move this big ass theatre tv. He just shrugged as they kept on moving and I walked into my house shaking my head. I followed my fiancé's voice.
" Excuse me this needs to be perfectly centered!" I heard. "And treat it with care this is a Maria Theresa Grand."I watched her orchestrate them to move the chandelier.
"Um baby?"I said placing my hands on my hips.
"Just one sec."She glanced at me. "To the left a little more,"
"Baby?!"I said slightly louder.
"anddddd perfect! thank you."She said finally turning her attention towards me. "Yes?"Lisa said turning towards me fully.
"What's all this?"I said looking around.
"I decided I wanted to do to some minor renovations."She said as I breathed in calming myself.
"Minor?"I nodded. "I just saw 5 men toting a fountain to the backyard. We have the 5th biggest pool in LA! Why the hell do we need a water fountain Lisa?!"I said as she opened her mouth but a man interrupted.
"So sorry to interrupt but who do I bill for the chandelier?"He said Holding up the paper as I took it.
"Uh—
"130,000 dollars! Girl are you crazy ?! Did this shit come from Beyoncé or Shakira?!"I said damn near balling the paper up as I pointed at the chandelier.
"Okay clearly you are upset—
"Understatement."I interrupted.
"I don't see why your so mad you said I can use your card for expenses."She said as I shook my head walking upstairs as she followed behind.
"For real expenses not unnecessary shit like a fucking Picasso. Why do we need a fucking Picasso in our house?! Frankly I like De Vinci."I said frustratedly.
"These are real expenses they are for me to be more comfortable in my own home. "She said as a matter of fact like this shit was just cool.
"We need to talk."I said as we went into the master bedroom that I didn't even recognize anymore. How the hell did they get this done while I was gone?
"Baby," I paused breathing in and out calmly. " You have got to stop with the unnecessary purchases. You still ain't done with this wedding, and you've already hit 1.1 million dollars. I mean damn we're okay , comfortable, but damn." I said
"Ohhhh I get it. So this is about you not being able to support my lifestyle?"She stared up sitting on the bed as my jaw clenched and I cleared my throat.
"Support your lifestyle? Girl I got you sitting in a 50,000 square feet, 195 million dollar mansions, in the hills. A customized Range Rover, Rolls Royce Wraith, and A G wagon sitting outside. All for you. Now girl I have been a lenient about the things you do and spend on but baby I have been working my ass off to keep up with all this. Everything is paid off, I haven't asked you to lift a finger, and Im still not going too, but can you please let up on the 'lifestyle' ?" I said softly waiting on her response.
"No."She responded lowly after a few moments of silence.
"W-what?"I said chuckling confused.
"No."She shrugged carelessly.
"Lisa—
"Let me spell it out plainly for you,"She paused holding her finger up gasping lightly. "Growing up both my parents were in house. My mother never had to do a thing. Whatever she asked for she got. My father never threw a fit or said he couldn't do it, he always made a way. And when I came along that never changed. Moral of the story I will not change my ways because your stressing yourself out about.... Uh how do I say it, making ends meet."She said
"Y—
"I'm not finished. And I know exactly what you're thinking right now and it's not even just that.i really don't want to stress you out by trying to keep up with my lifestyle that I already have, and that I'm accustomed too. Why? Because for example if I'm going to these restaurants just for lunch meetings and it takes you whole check to take me there—again I say—I DONT WANT TO STRESS YOU OUT."She paused.
"You cannot hang with me. You are still wanting to go on vacation for the weekend, I go on vacation holidays for the month. If you don't like that then we are not going to be able to make this work, that's simple to me."She said
I took a deep breath, trying to process her words. I felt a mix of frustration and sadness, Mostly I was disappointed but I also wanted to respond calmly and honestly.
"Look, I appreciate you being upfront about your lifestyle and what you're used to," I began, his voice steady.
"But I also need you to understand where I'm coming from too. I grew up in a different environment, where we had to be mindful of our finances and prioritize what really mattered. It ain't like I don't got it, I just choose not to be reckless. Because as easy as it came is as easy as it can go.I want to support you and share experiences with you, but I can't stretch myself thin just to keep up with a lifestyle that's not sustainable for me. And you right I'm not trying vacation for the month because I'm working, making sure you can vacation for the year and later years to come. I work hard every single day to make sure you live comfortably."I said
I paused again, searching for the right words. "I love you, and I want to build a future together, but it feels like there's a disconnect between our expectations. I understand that's what your used to but I'm used to a single dad struggling to make ends meet and still show up for me. I don't think you ever had powdered milk babygirl, and you don't want it. I just want us to find a balance where we can both feel comfortable and happy. But if you don't change something then maybe this actually won't work." I said
" I hear you but it's useless, I stand on what I believe in." She nodded " if you can't take it then maybe we shouldn't be together."She said making me feel stupid.
"Wow? So it's that easy for you? Materials over me?"I laughed in disbelief. "You're unbelievable."I said lowly grabbing my keys out my pocket shaking my head, sniffling wiping my nose. "You can have this house and everything in it."I said bitterly.
I opened the door aggressively making it hit the wall.
"That's a 12,000 door y/n!"I heard her.
"I payed for it!"I said back walking down the stairs.
