"Congratulations bro,"I said dapping up my long time bestfriend Courtney.He had proposed to his girl, Alexis today. We were all here at the proposal party they threw to tell all their friends and family as the initial moment was private.
"Thank you, I appreciate you for helping me out. Hell if it wasn't for you and Lisa I probably wouldn't have met the woman of my dreams. And I do apologize but you know we had to invite her too."He said as I nodded.
"I just introduced y'all, you keep her round. And man you're good, I mean we ran in the same circles. It's my first time getting out I knew I was gone see her probably."I said as we continued talking before Lex came over and of course she had to bring a friend.
"Baby?" Court said as I shook my head. He gave me an apologetic look.
"What? We can't all talk like adults?"she said
"But you know what you doing, I-
"It's good man. How you doing Lex, Lisa?"I said deciding to be the bigger person. We ain't got no beef, though I didn't want to be buddy with the woman who broke my heart. I loved her, she just loved the lifestyle more.
"I'm well thank you y/n."Lex said smiling as if she had completed the hardest math problem ever.What the fuck was she up too?
"I um, I could be better. I'm alive I guess."Lisa said avoiding my gaze. She sounded different, and looked a little different too.
"Ouu babe, I think yo' mama calling us,"
"What?! youn even like my mama."Court responded as she hit him.
"Boy come on."She said as they walked away leaving me and Lisa.
"I didn't ask her to do that if you're wondering. I respect your wishes."Lisa said as I looked as her my expression dropping.
"...Are you okay?"I said giving in. I couldn't help but feel bad. I saw her about to cry, I instantly grabbed her hand pulling her outside to the balcony. It was the nearest door to us.
"Talk to me."I said softly as she shook her head.
"You wouldn't want to hear it."she said as the tears flowed making me immediately give in. I'm a lover of course I gave in.
"I do though, tell me what's going on?"I was honestly worried. I had never seen her cry for real. The only time I did is when I asked her to marry me.
"I know I wasn't the best significant other, and when I tried to get you back and you said I still wasn't getting it, that's when I got it. I love YOU, y/n. I want you, all of you. And I'd trade any amount of money, cars, clothes, whatever. I haven't even stayed in that house the past couple months, I can't bring myself to. Because you're not there. I need you please, I'll do whatever it takes." She said crying as she grabbed my arms lightly.
"Lisa-
"Please, just hear me out. We don't have to move fast. we can start over. Let me take you on a date or something. I-
"Lisa, I can't." I said as she looked at me I could see her heart drop. Of course I felt bad. " Not because I don't see change, I do. And I hear everything you're telling me. But it's kind of too late, I have a situation going, and she-
"Who is it?" She said in broken voice.
"Jurnee." I said sighing.
"The lady whose garden you've been volunteering too for the longest?" She said hurt.
"I know it sounds weird, but I've never looked her way when me and you were together. Hell it took me a while to say yes to her. I didn't have to tell you but I felt like I should. Especially if you're going to move on. I didn't ask you to change for me, I loved you how I met you. I asked you to meet me halfway. And to tell you the truth your reaction fucked me up. Not to bring up the past either, this is for my closure. So me and you can move forward. I'll always have love for you Lisa. But I won't stop myself from exploring new things, especially when you opened those doors."I expressed as I turned looking over the balcony. I wanted to comfort her, tell her it was okay, that we're back. But I couldn't do that to myself, right?
"I...I don't want anyone else, I can't move on with someone else when my heart is with you."she paused as finally my tears started to flow. "I didn't change for you, I changed for me. Because I knew it would help me love you better. I don't care how long it takes, I'm not mad, I have faith that you'll come back to me. That we'll build something great. Have a beautiful family, as we always planned. And I'll wait for you,"She said as I looked at her shaking my head.
"But why would you do that to yourself? Especially when you can't be sure..."I asked needing to know.
"Because you're worth it," she said as i gestured a hug and we both stood there embraced as the outdoor sounds became more prominent.
"I love you, Lisa."I said as we pulled away.
"I love you so much more."She said softly as I nodded walking back in leaving her on the balcony with her thoughts as mines roamed as well.
