Sofia Carson- 28

Y/n POV

"What ya' painting?" Sofia asked coming up behind me, her arms wrapping around me as I melted into her touch. Pausing, grabbing her hand as I spoke,

"I don't know..." I sighed putting the brush down. "What does it give?" I asked before she kiss my cheek softly getting a good look before responding.

"Worry, fear.....and the bird? I'm assuming , a she, looks as if she feels stuck. Trapped, pulled between two strings, but it looks as though she also doesn't want to leave, the cage is open. She's wants to fly, to prosper, but doesn't want to admit it or deal with the unknown. Her mind is the cage. Her doubts are what's keeping her trapped." She paused before coming to sit on my lap, I wrapped my arms around her waist as she continued.

"A bird in a cage, the bird is you," she said as I huffed kissing her shoulder, lightly trailing her thigh. I didn't object to her observation.

"You're procrastinating." She pointed out.

"You gave me an ultimatum," I replied stale.

"Seven years, we've went from roommates, to friends, to partners, moved out of the country, made millions together, now engaged, and yet I've never met your mother or her side of the family. You never talk about them. About her. You also can't seem to give me a real reason why?" She pointed out as I groaned throwing my head back.

"I mean you just read my painting for filth, you already know me so well. Not meeting my mother is the deal breaker for you to be my wife, the mother of our children?" I asked knowing we'd bickered about it before.

We've had this conversation in so many flavors and I was surprised she hadn't given in. She was adamant about this and I dreaded it.

"That's not good enough, you think I'm asking questions? So will our kids."She said as I hummed.

"We can just tell them she pas-

"Y/n!" She warned hitting me. "Words have power."

"Yes ma'am, so sorry."I apologized before getting back to the topic at hand. "I talk to my grandmother," I pointed out.
