𝄞₊Still don't know my name . - Labrinth⊹
Kenji's voice cut through the quiet like a blade, sharp and precise. "Sir, the mail came in today." His tone was formal, like always, but there was an edge, something more than the usual news delivery.
Megumi didn't look up immediately. He sat at the sleek, obsidian desk, fingers steepled beneath his chin, the weight of a thousand decisions pressing down on him. The air was thick with the scent of leather and faint weed, the room dimly lit by the late afternoon sun slanting through half-drawn blinds.
"Bills, bills, More bills, and a one for Miss" Kenji paused mid-sentence, his eyes narrowing as he pulled a sleek black envelope from the stack.
The matte finish caught the dim light, but the crimson wax seal stood out—an intricate design that only a few could recognize. "A note for Miss Brina," Kenji finished, his voice quieter now, more cautious. He stepped forward, holding it out.
Megumi's eyes flicked to the envelope, a faint frown creasing his brow. His hand hovered in the air for a second before he took it, turning the envelope over in his fingers like it might bite him. "You're sure it's for her?" he asked, though he already knew the answer.
Kenji nodded, his jaw tight. "It's addressed to her directly. It's from some company, something about family?" Megumi tapped the envelope against the desk, the silence stretching too long. "Did you check for any tampering?"
