Chapter 2: An Announcement to Make

Shadow looked up at Sonic's house, the house he was in for Sonic's Birthday, the time he met Melody. He didn't know what was up, but he wanted to get to the bottom of this. He watched as Amy, Rouge, and Cream walked up to the door of Sonic's house. Amy was the one who knocked, though.
"I'll get it!" He heard Tails's muffled voice as the door opened to reveal the fox himself, "Oh! Hey, Amy Rose! Hi, Rouge! Hi, Cream!"
"We have something to tell you and Mr. Sonic, Tails," Cream explained. Tails looked confused.
"What do you guys need to tell us?" Sonic called out.
"Shadow had this weird dream," Rouge stated.
"Well, come inside!" Shadow heard Melody call out.
"Miss Melody, you need to be in another room..!" Cream spoke, "I'll go with you so you can teach me to do the weird thing you do with the string and hook..!"
"Oh- Okay!-" Melody said, sweating a small bit. The four walked inside, Melody and Cream went to Melody's room, and Amy, Shadow, and Rouge sat down in front of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails.

Sonic The Hedgehog's POV

As Shadow, Ames, and Rouge explained The Faker's dream that he had and The Tale of Mothera, my eyes widened. I turned to my two friends beside me, seeing they were just as surprised as I was.
"So she's a goddess of some kind?" Tails asked, seeming like he was thinking, now, putting a fist to his mouth, "Seems rather interesting, but I don't think that that is scientifically possible.."
"But it's true!" Ames shouted at Tails, causing him to jump, "Melody is in the tale, and Kira messaged Shadow to protect her!"
"I believe that is also true," Knuckles spoke, "I do remember some of my kind would tell stories about the tale."
"So it's true?" I asked. Knuckles nodded.
"Shadow has to babysit a princess, now, that is older than him—I believe," Knuckles explained. I turned towards Shadow, who seemed lost in thought. I wondered what he was thinking about. Maybe he was brooding as usual.

???'s POV

As I listened to Sonic and his little pests, I couldn't help but smile. With her power, I'll be able to defeat Sonic once and for all! I pressed the self-destruct button for my drone and placed the controller down, heading towards my lab.
"Orbot! Quebot!" I called out as my two sidekicks flew over to me.
"Yes, boss?" The red one, Orbot, asked.
"We did nothing wrong! Promise!" The Yellow one, Quebot, added.
"We have to make something that will capture that moth, Melody, and use her power to power up all my Badnics!" I announced, "If we had a goddess's power, then Sonic wouldn't be able to stop me! And I will be the winner!"
"But wouldn't we need the whole society of moths if we wanted to power up all the Badnics?" Orbot asked.
"Yes, indeed we do!" I shouted at them, "Which is why we will wait until they pick the princess up, and we'll follow them, and learn about the structure of their kingdom!"
"Sounds like a plan!" Quebot sang.
"Now.. we continue our usual trying to take over the world so that they won't get suspicious," I reported, they both nodded and went on their merry way.
Just wait, Hedgehog, I will defeat you and your friends once and for all.

3rd POV

Melody was teaching Cream how to Crochet.
"Now, you turn your work," Melody spoke, turning her crochet project, "and continue what I had taught you." Melody turned to Cream, who did as Melody instructed. Melody smiled with her eyes- since she didn't necessarily have a mouth. "That's good! You're doing good!" Melody cheered.
"Really?" Cream asked, looking up at Melody and smiling.
"Yep!" Melody turned to her work and continued to crochet to her heart's content.
"This is nice! Thanks for teaching me!" Cream sang.
"It's not a problem! I'm willing to teach anyone what I can do!" Melody turned to Cream before she heard the door open. Melody snapped her head towards the door in alarm. She saw Sonic and Shadow come inside her room.
"Hey, Mel? We have something we should tell you.." Sonic muttered. She raised an eyebrow in confusion.

Melody was surprised, truly. She didn't know that she was some kind of princess at all. She didn't know her grandmother was some goddess. Was that why, when she was sent here, that she was a moth? So it wasn't because she loved moths? It was like Shadow had figured that she was overthinking this because he patted her back, causing her to snap out of her thoughts.
"It's alright, I'll try the best I can to protect you.." Shadow stated, causing Melody to have a faint tint of pink on her cheeks.
"Which is why you'll be moving in with him," Sonic added, causing Melody to freeze and look at him.
"Okay, then," Melody said in a confident tone as if she wanted to move in with her childhood fictional crush.
"Alright, Amy and Rouge will help you pack up, and me and Sonic will help with the boxes," Shadow reported. Melody nodded at him. Sonic, Shadow, and Cream stood up and walked out of Melody's room, closing the door, so that she could think to herself for a while.

Melody had been sitting there for a while, drawing in her sketchbook. She had been drawing for a few hours, listening to her music. She's still surprised that she was a princess of some kind. Her parents back on earth always told her she was a princess, but that's what every parent tells their daughters. Melody was living every little girl's dream- well, sort of. It's not like every little girl dreams of being a literal goddess living in her dream world. But Melody was only a princess right now. She'd have to wait for a long while to meet her actual mother. That's when she started to wonder what her actual mother was like. Was her actual mother as caring, and lovely, but strict as her mother down on earth? Or was it the other way around? Did her actual mother have blonde fur? Maybe she had blue eyes.
"Okay, at this point I'm just describing my mother from Earth," Melody laughed before looking back at her paper. It was a drawing of Shadow. Why did he look so good in person? Was this the payment for crushing on him for 25 years since she was- like- five? Did she still have a crush on that ebony hedgehog? Melody's cheeks slowly became warm as a pink tint slowly crept its way onto her cheeks.
"Melody? Are you ready to pack up?" Rouge asked. Melody jumped and quickly shut her sketchbook.
"Y-Yeah!" She stuttered before putting it in her backpack and running to open the bedroom door.

"So.. How do you feel about Melody moving into you and Rouge's house?" Tails asked Shadow. Shadow glared at Tails, then thought for a few moments. When he finally had the answer to his question, he only smiled.
"I think we'll get to know each other well," The ebony hedgehog replied, looking away and having a small pink tint on his cheeks.
