Shadow X Melody

Chapter 4: The First Fight

I AM VERY SORRY FOR THE VERY  LONG WAIT!!

[August 1st]

"What is it that you've planned, Melody?" Shadow asked as Melody made all her friends sit on the couch.
"Alright! I've noticed we haven't spent time together without problems in a long while!" Melody started, smiling at her friends. So I put together a plan so we can all have fun together!!"
"And that plan is?" Amy asked.
"Karaoke night!" Melody sang happily, "If you don't want to sing, you don't have to! But you have to stay in here and watch!"
"Good idea, Melody!" Sonic said, smiling, "But who goes first?"
"I've put a bunch of names into this hat!" Melody pulled out a magician's hat. "I'll pull one out, and whoever it says comes up here can choose to do so or just skip their turn!" Everyone—but Shadow, of course—nodded. Melody smiled as she mixed the tiny pieces of paper and brought one out. Everyone stared in anticipation.
The next thing everyone knew, they heard a faint explosion outside.
"Eggman!" Sonic called out. There went Melody's plans.
"Luckily, Cream isn't here.." Tails mumbled before getting up with Sonic and running out. Amy and Rouge ran out, too. Melody sighed in defeat since this was the first time in a while that her plan didn't work.
Shadow was the last one Melody saw go through the outside door. She just sat there, certainly bored.
That was when she had an idea. It was probably a bad idea, but she could try to implement it. Melody suddenly ran into her room to get dressed into something. She changed from her pajamas into her usual outfit- which was a long shirt, arm warmers, and leggings. She quickly jumped from her window, flapped her wings, and headed towards where the explosion sounded.

Sonic and his friends had a small bit of trouble fighting Eggman off this time, seeing as how these badniks weren't the normal ones they had fought. These were different. Made specifically to stop the Moth species. How strong were the Moths?
Sonic would try to get close to Eggman, but he'd just be blocked off by another badnik. They were in massive trouble. Shadow noticed they were bulletproof, so he used the same tactics as Sonic. And the others? They're having a small bit of trouble defeating them. Knuckles was punching the hell out of the badniks, too, but he still had trouble.
They all found out they could throw things at them, so they tried to stay mindful of that.
That was when Metal Sonic came in, taking Sonic somewhere else to fight him.
"Sonic!" Amy called out as she watched Sonic being taken away.
"We have to continue fighting these badniks off, he could probably hold off on his own!" Knuckles called out as he threw a badnik into a bunch of others.

Sonic and his metal counterpart's battle went back and forth. First, Sonic would seem to be the victor. But then, Metal Sonic seemed to be. And it went back and forth like that. Suddenly, Metal Sonic had Sonic pinned to the ground, hands around his neck, choking Sonic. This wasn't normal at all. Sonic was trying to break free when he saw a rock nearby. He tried to reach out for the rock, but he was losing consciousness.
Is this the end of me? He thought to himself, Am I going to die here?
Suddenly, Metal Sonic was kicked at the side of his head, sending him flying off Sonic and over to a tree. Sonic turned to get on his hands and knees, holding his throat and coughing up a lung. He could finally breathe, and he caught his breath. But.. Who will save him? Whoever it was, came from the air. And the only person he knew who could fly was Silver. But the person was wearing a Brown Boot-looking shoe. The only person he knew wore brown was..
"Melody?" Sonic called out, turning to see who had saved him.
"You alright, Sonic?" Melody asked, getting to the ground to help Sonic up.
"I'm fine, but what are you doing here?" Sonic asked, surprised that Melody could do such a thing.
"Don't ask; I wanted to help," Melody said before picking Sonic up and taking off. "We have to get you over to Eggman!"
Sonic seemed surprised that Melody had the bravery to get out of the house to help them, but he wasn't fighting. He noticed Melody's wings, exactly like a moth's wings. It was almost mesmerising..

The fight was bad, as in they might lose this time, badly. Tails nearly got injured a lot; Amy's hammer broke, so she had to throw the badniks now; Knuckles was surrounded, so he was about to get injured; and Shadow was getting a bit tired.
"Where is Sonic!?" Shadow yelled.
"He might be having trouble with Metal Sonic!" Amy called out to Shadow before throwing a badnik at some badniks that were surrounding Knuckles, allowing him to escape from the circle of badniks.
"Well, he probably needs to hurry!" Tails called out before he noticed something on his portable-computer, "Wait- these signals! They look familiar!"

Melody saw the team wasn't doing so great, so she had an idea.
"Sonic! Do you trust me?" Melody asked, looking down at Sonic.
"Yeah! Seeing as how you saved my life!" Sonic replied, looking away to not be rude.
"Alright! Get ready!" Melody called out. Suddenly, Melody started spinning around as she flew. Soon enough, this caused Sonic to get dizzy.
"Melody- What are you-" Sonic got interrupted by Melody throwing him. He seemed surprised before he saw the direction he was thrown at. Towards Eggman. And he was going faster than the badniks seemed to be going.

"Wait, what is that?" Amy asked, seeing a blue blur heading their way.
"Could it be...?" Shadow mumbled. He seemed lost in thought as he stared at it.
"Shadow! Watch out!" Tails called out to Shadow, snapping him back to reality. Shadow turned around to see a giant boulder come his way. He brought out the fourth chaos emerald, about to call out Chaos Control before suddenly, the bolder stopped mid-air. This led everyone to become confused.
That's when, suddenly, the boulder was flung into the air by an invisible force. Shadow looked up to see someone familiar.
"Melody! What are you-" Shadow called out before she kicked the boulder over towards the group of badniks that surrounded Knuckles before. Every single one of the badniks was destroyed. Shadow was surprised, to say the least.
"I don't need to be protected!" Melody called out, looking towards Shadow.
"Where's-" Eggman was suddenly interrupted by Sonic swooping past his face, grabbing the button that activated the badniks in the first place.
"Sonic!" Amy, Knuckles, and Tails called out in happiness. Melody flew down to pick Shadow up.
"How's my little edgelord doing?" Melody teased, causing Shadow to turn red.
"Shut up.." He mumbled.
"Sonic! Should have known that Metal Sonic would have spared you.." Eggman said.
"Melody came in and saved me!" Sonic called out. Eggman looked over at the moth, scowling. But he knows a bit of what she can do now.
"You haven't heard the last of me!" Eggman called out before flying away in his egg-mobile.

[August 8th]

"Here you go! All fixed!" Melody sang as she looked at the rebuilt town that Eggman had almost destroyed.
"How did you fix an entire town within a week?" Tails asked, confused.
"Well, a magician never tells her secrets!" Melody replied, smiling.
"But you could have gotten yourself hurt when you joined the fight.." Shadow grumbled.
"But I didn't, now did I?" Melody asked, smirking.
"You sound just like the Hedgehog.."
"But you like me either way!" Melody said before she kissed his muzzle, causing him to freeze, and walked away.
Everyone just laughed at Shadow, causing his face to get red.
