PROMPT: "It's snowing!"
_____

Yuki and I are sitting on one of the old wooden benches in our favourite park, both wrapped up in scarves and mittens. The air is crisp, and our breaths make little clouds when we talk about everything and nothing. Everything around us is rather quiet, except for the occasional laughing of some kids in the distance.

It is one of those perfect afternoons- calm, peaceful and full of simple joy. The sun is already hanging low in the sky, painting everything in a soft golden tone. The chirping of some birds makes the atmosphere perfect.

I am just telling Yuki about the book I've been reading when suddenly he switches his attention to something else. He blinks into the sky a couple of times, his eyes widening in surprise.

"It's snowing!" Yuki exclaims with a smile on his lips.

I stop mid-sentence and follow his gaze. Tiny snowflakes are making their way to the ground, twirling and dancing with each other in the soft breeze of the afternoon. The sight has something magical-like something out of a dream and I can't help but gasp at the sigh. Eyes lit up just like Yuki's and my cheeks were no longer glowing from the cold but from the excitement inside of me.

Without thinking further I jump up, stretching my arms wide like I try to hug the sky. "I love the first snow!" I giggle and spin around. The snowflakes sticking against my hair, decorating it with little crystals.

Yuki laughs but stands up as well and holds his arm out. "You're right, it is perfect."

He joins me and together we dance through the snow, which is slowly covering the paths, laughing when we try to catch snowflakes on our tongues. The world around us seems to disappear, leaving only the sound of our laughter and the steady fall of the snow. Every time we spin around the air feels colder, but neither of us minds it. It just feels like magic.

After a while, we both collapse onto the snow, out of breath and faces flushed from dancing and laughing. We lay side by side, staring up at the sky while we get showered in snowflakes.

"It's like we are the only people in the world." Yuki mumbles and turns his head to look at me.

"I think that's what makes it so special. Just us together in the snow."

Yuki smiles and reaches out to hold my hand which I squeeze gently.

The snow keeps falling, each flake unique adding themselves to the blanket which covers the world. The trees slowly being dusted with snow look like their straight out of a fairy tale. The park, now really empty beside us, is perfectly still as the time has paused to enjoy the moment itself.

"I think we should make this our tradition." Yuki says after a while. "Every time it snows, we need to go outside and do this. Just us in the snow."

I grin at him happily. "I love that idea. Snow days only you and I."

Yuki pulls me close, chin resting on top of my head. "There is no one else I want to spend them with."

I smile, feeling warmth spread through my body. "It's perfect. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

We stay here for a while longer, enjoying each other's company while the snow keeps falling. The world outside the park seems to be distant with us being in the bubble we created here. As the afternoon slips to evening, Yuki stands up, offering his hand to me. "Should we go home?"

I nod, taking his hand and letting him help me up to my feet. Brushing the snow off our coats before we start to walk down the path. Snow crunching under our boots. The sky has turned to a soft pink, letting everything seem like it is covered in candy cotton.

Yuki pulls me closer, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "I love the way snow makes everything seem so peaceful."

"Yeah," I agree "It's like the world slows down for a while."

When we reach the park gate I pause to look back, observing how everything looks with its snow blanket draped over it. I smile to myself, knowing this snowy day will be cherished in my memories for a long time.

Yuki playfully nudges me. "Ready to start our snow day tradition?"

I laugh softly. "As ready as I'll ever be."

Hand in hand we walk into the snowy evening, knowing that every snowflake which will fall from the sky will remind us of this day. The laughing, the love and the joy of simply being together.
