“Where are you taking me John? It’s two in the morning. You should go to bed and rest your wound” Victoria said happily as she was being dragged to a ladder by John.

“Just hurry up woman, or we will miss it!” John excitingly said, even though he was having a hard time because of his bullet wound on the shoulder cap.

“Miss what?” she now anxiously asked as they went up the ladder.

She had no clue of what was to happen, but still she went up the ladder, with John leading the way up. When they were on the roof John just remarked:

“This” as he pointed to the sky, crying with stars. It was raining light on the deep void of night. As she fails to keep her mouth close, she is just staring at the fall of the heavens. The most beautiful meteor shower she had ever seen. The dazzling display of the twinkling twilight as it kisses the ground in a display of delight. She was amazed, astounded and shocked.

“This…..is….the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. How long will this last?” she asked, but she wasn’t even looking at John. She was busy looking at the night sky.

“Enjoy it while its there. You may never get a chance like this. Don’t ask how long it will last. Just sit there and watch what happens” he said, as he looked at her face.

“I….well….guess your right. This is really an astounding sight to behold. Thanks for making me have this beautiful experience” she said as she looked at John. After she said that she just lied on the roof. John offered her some sodas and chips. He also lied down beside her, and ate with her. Then they started to talk.

“Hey, Vicky, do you think I suck in socializing?” he said.

“Well, you are socializing with me, isn’t that something?” she remarked.

“No, I mean with other people. People rarely think I exist. It’s not my fault I am like this. I blame genetics for making me a nerd really” he jokingly said.

They both sat up and Victoria said “You know, your not socializing with people is not because you can’t do it. You don’t socialize because you choose not to” she smiled.

“Guess…I guess your right. Hey, do you think I am going to find love someday?” he asked.

“Why not now?” she replied. Then she placed her hands on the roof. John also did the same. They both closed their eyes, and slowly…slowly leaned towards each other. Their faces met. Their nose was side by side. The day of the meteor shower, was sealed with a kiss, the best way to end the night. After a few moments they opened their eyes.

“Victoria, I really love you very much. Ever since we were high school students, I had my eyes on you. I thought you were the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I love you more than I love my work. It gives me joy whenever you visit. I am lonely whenever you’re gone. Remember those small sticky notes inside your locker?” John said.

“Oh, the ones with those cute drawings and remarks?” she replied excitedly.

“Yeah….well I made them” he said.

“I thought you didn’t have time for love?” she asked.

“Well, let’s just say, I am not the bravest of the bunch, and I had to divert my attention” he remarked.

“I…..I love you too” she shyly said. Then they hugged each other. A warm hug, on a cold, meteor showering night. Then suddenly out of nowhere.
