“John wake up. It is four in the afternoon, the policeman from last night, Carter, wants to talk to you” Ted said as he was waking up John.
“Eh, what seems to be the problem officer?” John asked Carter, who standing next to Ted. John’s eyes were still closed at the moment.
“Well, two bodies of your relatives are in the morgue today” Carter said, as he took of his hat.
“Wait, Ringo was already buried a few months ago” John surprisingly said, as his eyes went wide open.
“No, I am talking about Samuel Davis” Carter said, as he sat down on a chair, which was next to the bed.
“No, that cannot be. You must be mistaken officer Carter, that’s not our Samuel. Our Samuel is tough as bolts” John arrogantly said.
“Yeah, but he is not tough enough to survive two bullets through his skull” Carter said.
“What? Who and how?” John was now getting worried.
“Well, this morning at around five, one of our patrols saw a burning car down the cliff. They pulled out a man, who had two gun shot wounds on the side of his head. He also had burn marks on his body, but the plate number on his car helped us indentify him. The bullets were owned by a man named Paul Davis, an escaped convict-” Carter was finishing his explanation when suddenly John stopped him.
“Sir, thank you. We will see to it that we will give both Victoria and Samuel good funerals. Thank you for coming. We will come for their bodies in a week’s time” John said, as he shook Carter’s hand. Carter had a curious look but said goodbye to the two men, and he left in his police car.
“Damn it!” John shouted as he threw a vase into a wall.
“Look, finish your time machine. We can sort this all out once you are done” Ted said as he tried to calm John down.
“Yeah, I am half way on finishing this blueprints, but while we were at the hotel, that asshole Paul burned my blueprints. I was supposed to have finished this damn time machine, but I had to start from scratch again, and now I only have half of it done. He is ruining my life. He kills every one I love. Every single one” John angrily said.
“But you still cannot take your hand up and kill him” Ted said curiously.
“I….I don’t know….I just have this weird gut feel that I shouldn’t kill him” John said as he started to calm down. He took a seat and rubbed his head.
“Tell me, how did you meet him” Ted asked, as he gave John some water to drink.
“Some time, about ten years ago, I awoke from a comma. Then I saw Ringo and Paul at my hospital ward. I forget everything that happened before that incident. I am so glad I had my former yearbook, that’s why I remembered Victoria, but I couldn’t find my name, because part of the yearbook’s pages have been charred and ripped. I didn’t even remember my name. I only remembered it, when I saw by my bedside the name John Harrison. Then I overheard John and Paul talking to the doctor, then I considered them family because they were at my bedside” John finished.
“No wonder you were overly attached to Ringo” Ted said.
“Yeah, well my anger won’t do anything so I better yet start on this time machine to fix up everything. All the times I screwed up” John said, as he grabbed a ballpen, paper and some books.
“Yeah, you do that, I will be leaving” Ted said, as he grabbed two small bottles, a trench coat, a bag and a hat. When he was about to leave the door, John asked.
“Where are you going Ted?” John asked.
“Pay Paul a visit. I think I know where that rat is hiding” Ted said.
