My mind was still frozen in time as me and my resurrected partner is enveloped in a dark world suddenly illuminated from time to time by light passing by in a looping manner. We again enter a state that we have constantly experienced every time we have travelled. As we see the opening on the other side, the freeze enters our body making us slip into a vegetative state once again. Our bodies couldn’t move but one question is still drifting in my mind. Where is Ted taking me, or the proper question, when is Ted taking me? The loop hole opens and as we pass through warmth enters our bodies once again.
“I will never get used to time travelling” Ted remarked as we exited the loophole. We were in a bar in an airport. As I looked around, I saw a lot of busy people. I looked at the name of the airport, it said “Boston Logan International Airport”. I quickly wondered why we were here.
“Ted, tell me why are we here?” I said as I looked at Ted who just ordered two beers. He passed one my way and just kept silent as he drank the beer.
I kept bugging Ted, but he was just silent and sipping the cold beer. He finished his beer and ordered another one, but he still has not answered me. I kept bugging him to answer my inquiry but he still stayed silent as he continued to drink beer.
“Hey, why are we here? Can you please stop ignoring me” I said as I got quite pissed off by his rudeness.
“Be calm. This will be the last time we will see each other again if you stop yourself from ever time travelling you know that? Besides enjoy the beer. You will need the energy for what you are about to see” Ted said, as he paid the bill and as we have left the bar. The beer was still in my hand. He was right. If I stop myself from ever time travelling I will save Ringo and Victoria but I would never have met Ted. But that is a risk I am willing to take. Then suddenly Ted tugged me and showed me a young couple holding two kids.
“Look at that young couple John and look at them good” Ted said as he pointed at the couple.
“Well, they look like an ordinary couple, I don’t know why we have to travel all the way here just to meet them. Who are they anyway?” I said. I could’ve travelled back to college to stop me from ever watching the clip about time travel. But what Ted said shook my whole body. I wasn’t time travelling but my body felt cold as I listened to what he said word per word.
“That is your parents John” Ted answered.
“But…..but how did you know this Ted?” I replied.
“I overheard Paul talk about it once. But that’s not the only thing that you should know about” Ted replied but I was deaf to him. I was not listening. I was listening to what my parents were talking about. I overheard the man said to his wife.
“Are you really sure that you’re going to leave me?” the man said to his wife.
“Its okay Ringo, I wouldn’t go away long. Its just that John here needs that operation” the woman said.
“Okay then honey. I promise to be good to Paul here” the man replied.
“Are you sure you can’t come with me?” the woman replied.
“If only we had more money but our money can only pay a ticket for two and the operation. If only my job had paid really well. Just promise to hurry back okay honey?” the man said as he kissed his wife. With that they parted ways.
“Dad! Dad!” I shouted as I ran to my father who apparently was Ringo. I also realized that my brother was Paul. I ran to my father but Ted pulled me back.
