One calm morning, John checked Victoria out of the hospital for her condition has become better. Then John told her that Old Man Ringo had been rushed to the intensive care unit a few days ago. The paramedics had some time to bring him to the intensive care unit. The old man was in a comatose. He was in a vegetative state. The only thing keeping him alive was the machines. He was like a puppet, with strings wrapped around him.
John brought Victoria with him to the intensive care unit of the hospital. She was just confused about all that had happened. They were on the floor of the ICU. They were walking really fast toward Old Man Ringo’s ward.
“Tell me John what happened?” she asked.
“Enrique tried to kill me, but he shot Old Man Ringo instead” he answered.
“What? He is a really violent man. Will he be alright?” she was now worried. Her heart sank, when they heard the doctor’s news. They were already in the intensive care unit, when she asked that. She accidentally bumped into the doctor because she was in a rush, and she forgot to look where she was going.
“Well, sorry but I overheard your conversation but he is not alright. I am sorry to say. He is already brain dead. His body is not even responding anymore. The machines are the only thing that’s giving him signs of life” the doctor said.
“So doctor what is going to happen now?” John asked.
“Well, I need you to sign this waiver. If you sign that means that we will pull the machines that’s supporting him” the doctor said.
Paul overheard the talking between the doctor and John. He was sitting in front of the ward drinking coffee.
“Hey doc! Why are you talking to that murderer?” Paul asked.
“For the last time Paul, I did not kill your father!” John said. He was rather irritated.
“Lies! I refuse to hear you” Paul said, while he looked far away.
“You two please stop making a scene. You look like two kids are like children fighting over chocolate. Please stop” Victoria said.
“You should be quiet. The other patients are trying to rest” the doctor said, with a slight anger in his eyes. It can be seen from his eyebrows.
“We are terribly sorry doctor. It won’t happen again” John said.
“Wait doctor, what are you even asking him about?” Paul asked as he looked at the doctor, while trying to avoid John’s glare.
“I was asking him if he wanted to pull the life support away- the doctor’s answer was rudely interrupted by Paul when he said:
“What? That man killed my father once, and now you are going to give him the opportunity to kill him again? That’s bulls*it. Why are you even asking him? He is not even a member of the family” Paul angrily shouted.
“Sir will you please tone down your voice” the doctor said.
“You…” John pointed at Paul. He was very irritated and he wanted to punch him in the face but he was stopping himself. It was really killing him from the inside.
“What? Now you are going to kill me you pathetic bastard?” Paul angrily shouted again.
“Guards please take this man away” the doctor said.
