• After 3 Years of Learning How To Read and Therapy •

"Hey May! Just wanted to check in on your first day of work at your new job! How exciting! Yes, this is Dave because Dave just got an iPhone. Yes ma'am. My new glasses came in too. They're pretty snazzy if I do say so myself. Any who... Just wanted to call and say: I love you and I hope you have an awesome day. See you." David finishes his voicemail and goes into the shower. Today is their 3rd anniversary. David is a fast learner and he realized that reading in braille is way more difficult than reading with eyesight. He pretty much caught up to his own reading level in a week. He still is trying to comprehend the things he now sees. That's what therapy was for. David only goes once a week now. That's a big improvement compared to the 5 days a week schedule he was on.
May and him are thinking of having a child. If a boy, Peter. If a girl, Olivia.

"Dave? Are you here? D- What is this?" May finds and note on a table, right inside the door. In very neat handwriting it reads:
Dear May,
How'd you do it? How in the heck did you put up with me and still keep a balanced life? I'm pretty certain that you are a wizard. I'm so freaking excited to see what's next with us. Anyway, it would be my pleasure to make those helpless years up. Come in the kitchen.
Loving you always,
David
May brought the note with her into the kitchen. On the counter was two tickets to San Francisco.
"Dave? Dave where are you?" May looks at the tickets and then turns around to look at the living room. There stood David, in a nice dress shirt and nice pants. May goes up and hugs him with the tickets in her hand. "Why are we going to San Francisco? I mean that's... AMAZING. But why?"
"Uh well..." He rubs the back of his neck. "We are moving there. I want to see that lake you described." May stood quietly for a couple seconds, thinking.
"That... Is really nice Dave. I'm really happy." She smiles then walks past David into the bedroom. David stood there a second and then went into the room with May. She was sitting on her side of the bed with her elbows on her knees and her hands on her head.
"May. What's wrong?" David goes and sits next to her, rubbing her back.
"They um... They put me on another chemo pill."
"Why?"
"It's killing it faster. Which, of course, is a wonderful thing but, I'm kind of feeling a little... Depressed."
"Oh honey..." David hugged her. She hugged him back harder.
"Happy Anniversary David. I'm sorry I ruined it." May sniffs.
"May... You didn't ruin it. You MADE my anniversary. If it wasn't for you helping me in the hallway... I probably would've never gotten my eyesight back. Don't say you ruined it, because you didn't." David caresses the back of May's head, running his fingers through her short hair. A long pause goes by. "I packed your stuff. We're leaving tomorrow."
"That's so awesome Dave." She pulls away from his arms and kisses him. "I'm excited to start a family." She smiles and rolls up David's sleeves. The sleeves stop at his upper arm. He has too much muscle.
"I made dinner. It's on the counter in there." David points over his shoulder and into the dining room.
"Well... What are we waiting for? Let's eat!" May runs into the kitchen. David meets her in there and puts his arms around her waist, turning her around to kiss him. She pulls away and takes her plate to sit at the table. "Thank you for doing all this." She waves her hands in the air, indicating that she liked a clean house.
"My pleasure." David bows as he walks over to her to sit down. "Hey... Can we talk?" David folds his hands.
"Of course." May had a stern voice as she puts her hands on his.
"I want to have a child." David exhales.
"No way.... I do too! David! Let's do it!" She shakes his hands.
"Well ok then!" He smiles as he picks her up and brings her to the bedroom. He shuts the door.
