*Evie's P.O.V*

Being a cat was a lot more helpful than I thought. It allowed me to wedge myself into tight, tight places. I was currently wedged inside a random drawer in the hall...all because I was trying to avoid Mother Miranda.

I was not going to let that bird bitch touch me. She would poke and prod me, probably want to perform an experiment or two on me. I just couldn't allow that! She would be very mean to me, I just knew it.

So I had taken off running at full speed with my wobbly little cat legs, trying to get as far and fast away from Mama. Especially since she had called her here. I hated that woman and yet I was supposed to let her come check me out? No way in hell would that happen. I would rather be chewed up by lycans and spit back out only to be swallowed again. All while I'm alive.

My cat form luckily allowed me to crawl inside the drawers of all of the cabinets, of which there were many. So now I was playing a terrifying game of hide and seek with Mama. Dani was helping her I think, which was awful since I didn't want Dani to help that evil witch that was Mother Miranda.

My claws dig into the wood when the drawer I'm in is suddenly jerked out and turned upside down. I manage to keep myself stuck inside the drawer even as it's shaken vigorously. I hiss angrily which makes the person stop as the drawer is turned back over.

"Found you," Dani declares with delight, grabbing me by the scruff and hoisting me up into the air. I dangle helplessly, my body shaking like a leaf. I hated being held like this, it was so awful.

I can't communicate with her, at least not with words. So instead I just hiss at her. I claw at her, or at least I try to but she just flips me over and holds me like a baby.

"It's okay baby kitty sister, I'll take care of you," Dani bounces me, kind of like she's trying to soothe a baby. I hiss again, swatting at her face and managing to claw into the cold skin. It doesn't even do any damage so I just let go after a minute.

"My nails are probably sharper than yours," Dani says as she starts walking down the hall, ignoring my struggle in her hold.

'This is so unfair, I should just kill myself,' I think bitterly as I wriggle around in her hold. She was lucky I couldn't do much damage, sadly. Otherwise I would have managed to rip her skin off her bones and eaten it.

"Baby kitty sister, so cute and so fluffy," Dani nuzzles her face into my fur, making me yowl in upset. I didn't even know I could make such an awful noise but I was glad that I could. It made it so much easier to be annoying.

"Don't do that!" Dani narrows her eyes at me, acting like I was the one causing problems! Like she wasn't treating me like a baby and dragging me back to my doom! I would remember this. I would hold this against her for the rest of my days.

"Do I want to ask what is happening?" Mama asks, making me nearly snap my neck with how quickly I turn to look at her. I hiss, the fur on my back sticking up as I stare at her. She raises an eyebrow, holding out her hand. Dani, the traitorous monster, dumps me into Mama's hands without a thought.

Oh I'm so fucking tiny! I'm barely anything in the palm of her hand. So she was fucking huge and I was really tiny. Like a speck of dust basically! I glare at her, a growl rumbling in my chest. I didn't know I could make such a loud sound but it clearly was loud based on how Mama's eyes narrow slightly.

"She's upset," Dani says, like it wasn't obvious. Clearly I was upset, I'm practically spitting in anger as I glare at her. Mama hums, trying to turn me over to hold me closer. I lash out and sink my claws into her hand. It doesn't even draw blood, just barely scratching the skin.

"You are in a foul mood. So small and filled with so much rage," Mama hums slightly, seeming to ignore the fact that I had just tried to attack her. I give her a dirty look as she carries me back to her study, seeming content to just hold me against her chest as she walks. I claw at the fabric of her dress, my tiny needle nails getting caught in the fabric.

"You know this does not disprove my theory of you being a brat who lashes out when they feel safe," Mother Miranda's voice makes me try to jerk my claws out of Mama's dress, having to pause as she carefully removes my claws from her dress. I glare at Mother Miranda, my fur puffed up in pure anger.

"What are you going to do? Attack me? You don't have enough self confidence to do that," Mother Miranda says. I glare at her, turning my head to look at Mama who shakes her head slightly. She rubs the bridge of her nose with her free hand. Exhaustion is clear in her gaze as she looks at Mother Miranda.

"Did you come to just antagonize her? Can't you help?" Mama asks as she scratches under my chin slightly, making me purr slightly. My eyes close as I slump into her touch. It was nice to be touched so gently, to trust that she wouldn't hurt me.

"Oh...I can't help whatever this is. These are probably just her powers acting up," Mother Miranda says, making me start to open my eyes to glare at her. I hate this bird bitch!

"Probably? You don't know?" Mama asks, sounding annoyed.

"I can't predict everything Alcina! If I could, I wouldn't have mutated half of you with the Cadou. A waste, I swear," Mother Miranda sounds annoyed. Mama lets out a small growl as she tucks me against her.

"What am I supposed to do? Just let her be a cat?" Mama asks as she looks down at me. I stare at her with exhaustion, wondering why she was so bothered by me being a cat.

"Let her be a cat. If she's still this way by the end of the week, just throw her into the wild and let her be free," Mother Miranda says, disappearing into a swarm of feathers. I try to leap to grab one, wincing when Mama catches me before I can get anywhere though.

"How absolutely useless," Mama mutters as she stares in disgust at where Mother Miranda had just been standing. I bat at her face, getting her attention back on me.

"Love, you are adorable. You are not staying a kitten forever though," Mama says dryly. I tap her face with my paw, having no intention of listening to her even if I did learn how to turn back. The power of chaos was all mine!

For those of you who like this story and who have read my other res 8 fanfic called the Maiden, there is now a sequel to the Maiden called the Tailor. It's book I just published focused on Mother Miranda and Taylor's little.
