 Chapter Two

A loud beeping noise filled my ears and I shot up out of bed, but then holding it out of pain for getting up so fast, feeling dizzy and falling back onto the pillow. I peered over to the clock that was beside me on my dresser and tried to read the time displayed on the front.

6am.

Urgh, I don’t remember setting an alarm this early, hell, why was an alarm even set for today anyways? It was a Saturday for god sakes.

I hit the snooze button but saw that there was a sticky note attached to the back of the alarm clock. I slowly peeled it off with all of the strength that I could muster up this early in the morning and squinted my eyes to read it.

‘Hope you like your wake up call, from you darling brother,’ It read. Jake.

I let out a loud groan and rolled over to try and fall back to sleep, that was until I heard a loud bang of pots and pans outside my bedroom door. I hoped off of my bed and swung the door open wide.

“Wakey wakey! Rise and shine!” Jake shouted as he was stood there with two metal pans, continually banging them both together.

“If I was fully awake right now, you would be dead meat,”

“That’s exactly why I picked this time in the morning to do it, it will annoy you and you haven’t got the energy yet to come and get me,” he said cheerfully with a smiled plastered all over his face.

“Oh my god, could you get any more annoying if you tried?!”

“Sure, why, do you want me to be?”

“That was a rhetorical question, asshole,” I said as I slammed the door in his face.

I dragged my tired body back over to the comfort of my bed and plopped back under the warmth of the covers, as I slowly shut my eyes to fall peacefully back to sleep.

Finally getting up at a reasonable time, it seemed like an extra couple of hours of sleep really does make the difference, or in my case, an extra four hours sleep does the trick, especially today.

I still don’t think I can get rid of the loud crash and bang noises that Jake thought he had to make at 6AM. I was surprised, really. He normally doesn’t drag himself out of bed until 1 or 2PM on a weekend; I had to give him that.

Really don’t know what made this weekend special, but I didn’t want it to happen again, ever. Maybe when he’s living on his own or has a steady girlfriend to annoy, then he can do whatever the hell he wants.

I suddenly hear a jolt downstairs and heard loud music, accompanied by loud off key singing, and how Jake got into choir when he was younger astonishes me. I whipped open my down to also be hit with the smell of food, smelt like a full English breakfast to me.

I was going to ignore it all and just go on with whatever I had to do, but my stomach gave out a loud grumble as if to tell me to go nearer and not shy away. I wandered downstairs and could predominantly pick up the smell of bacon and toast coming out of the kitchen door.

I expected mum to be stood there cooking all of the food and Jake to just be lingering around like a bad smell that wouldn’t go away and that he was getting in the way instead of helping.

But surprisingly, that wasn’t the case, Jake was cooking, in the kitchen, signing; and he wasn’t burning anything? Have to say that this is a very off day.
