"You are really stupid for getting attached to him."
"No, I'm not, and you better start being respectful, Matvei."
"Meow Meow Meowwwww~"
"Tetisheri, stop moving your head, or you will ruin the braid."
You scolded your daughter, as you braid her soft hair while Matvei sits in a chair near your bed.
Also Tetisheri is playing with her kitten that Tutankhamun brought for her as a gift.
So, it's now wonder why Matvei has that annoyed look on his face at the repetitive 'meowing' sound your daughter is making.
"You do really insist on ruining your life, don't you...how do you even know that you will stay here forever?"
Matvei’s words hung heavy in the air, his tone colder than usual.
He leaned back in the chair, his arms crossed, watching you with piercing eyes.
You paused mid-braid, turning to meet his gaze.
"I don't know, Matvei," you replied, voice steady.
"But I don't even think I will be leaving her anytime soon."
Matvei snorts, turning his face away.
"Well, you need to start considering possibilities, and remember that there is no such thing as permanent."
Tetisheri, oblivious to the tension, begins singing.
"Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. Baby shark! Mommy shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. Daddy shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo."
This made you surprised as Matvei raises an eyebrow.
"What type of stupid song is that?" he asserts.
"That's not a stupid song! I love it and you are deaf if you think it's stupid"
The young girl meekly argues, before turning her body around on your lap and hiding her face in your embrace.
She also gently holds the kitten in her arms.
"Tetisheri, are you from the year 2024?"
You ask her, making her look up at you and nod slowly.
"Yes, but the strange man told me not to tell anyone."
"Strange man?"
Could she possibly mean Horace.
Wait, if she considers Horace a 'strange man' then Horace is not her father as he told you.
"Tetisheri, do you know your parents?" you ask her.
"No, I'm an orphan." she replies.
"No wonder why she considers that deformed Pharaoh her father."
Hearing that, you turn your gaze to Matvei, clutching your jaw.
"He is not deformed!"
The young princess shouts and does the unexpected.
She throws the kitten at him, the small creature in fear pull out her paws and scratches Matvei.
Matvei doesn't even flinch from the pain, the kitten's claws leaving a faint line of red on his cheek as the small creature landed on the floor with a soft thud.
The kitten, startled, scurried under the bed, its tiny body trembling. Tetisheri gasped, realizing what she had done.
"Matvei, are you okay?"
You asked sharply, though you couldn’t quite suppress a smirk at his misfortune.
Matvei glared at you, one hand pressed to his cheek.
"Your daughter's cat just scratched me, what do you think?"
"She wouldn’t have done it if you weren’t being mean,"
Tetisheri muttered defiantly, folding her arms and pouting.
You sighed, pulling Tetisheri closer to you.
"Tetisheri, you shouldn’t throw animals, that’s not how we handle disagreements."
The young girl nodded reluctantly, her lips trembling as tears welled in her eyes.
"I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to hurt her...but Uncle Matvei is evil."
With that the young child gets up from her bed, before getting down on her knees and picking up the kitten.
She then rushes out of the chamber.
Matvei smiles before placing one leg over the other.
"Now that we are alone, I wish to confess something." he starts.
You raise an eyebrow at Matvei, your fingers tips play with each other as you wait for him to continue.
"The real reason why I got transported here in this timeline era is because I tried to kill a historical figure."
Your breath catches in your throat. Matvei’s nonchalant confession sends a wave of unease through you.
His cold, calculating tone makes the admission feel chilling.
"You what?" you demand, leaning forward slightly, your voice laced with disbelief.
Matvei leans back further in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he studies your reaction.
He seems almost entertained by your shock.
"I was tasked to eliminate someone whose survival changed history someone who wasn’t supposed to make it past a certain moment in time."
From his words you already guessed who he is speaking about.
"My mission was clear, but I failed because of that man named Horace, I failed the Soviet Union."
"I apologise, but why did he sent you to this timeline? What is so punishing in such thing?" you ask.
"He sent me to this timeline to protect you, as you have been accepted to the time travelling academy or at least that is what he told me."
Time travelling academy?
You didn't even apply for such a thing.
Oh wait.
Was it the link you came across in your Gmail mails called 'Academy of Time Travelling' a real thing?
You thought it was a joke, that's why you applied after asking your friend about it.
In fact this was three years ago.
"So, after I finish my task here, I will travel to other timeline?!"
You exclaim in shock and bewilderment.
"I suppose so, and I will be by your side on each task."
Matvei leans forward with a smirk, placing his index and middle finger under your chain to raise it.
"This is why, you should only obey me."
