"So, he forced you to marry him?"
"It's complicated, mom,"
"I didn't force her to marry me, she agreed to marry me."
"I believe I wasn't directing my question to you."
"You are trying to pressure your own daughter into believing that I'm evil ."
"And you aren't?"
"No, I'm not? I understand that you have insecurity and hatred towards men, but don't try to project it into my wife."
"I have no prejudice against anyone."
"I never said you did."
It's insane how the conversation is going back and forth between your mother and Tutankhamun.
They both act like they have been arch-enemies since a long time ago.
Thankfully, you sent Tetisheri back to her chamber so there could be more privacy.
Because you know that she might add fuel to the fire.
"Mom, focus on me, how did you know that I'm here? How did you even time travel?"
"It's as if you haven't heard a single word I've uttered! For the record, I, too, fell for the allure of this so-called prestigious time-traveling academy and submitted an application."
"How about we continue speaking in my chambers instead?"
You suggested, hoping to steer the conversation away from the prying eyes of the Pharaoh.
"No, if you two have anything to say, say it in front of me, I'm now a part of this family as much as you are a part of mine"
"This marriage is annulled as I didn't give my blessings."
"Why would I need your useless blessings when I'm the Pharaoh?"
Tutankhamun scoffed, his youthful face a mask of disdain.
"This is mockery" he challenged, his voice laced with the authority befitting his position.
"My daughter deserves the best, and you are not the best."
"So, you are one of those mothers-in-laws?"
"Excuse me?"
"You know, the ones who push in their toxic ideas because they are unhappy in their marriage."
"I speak from experience."
"You admitted just now that you have whored yourself out to other men, then?"
Standing up from your seat, you abruptly slap your hands down on the table, the sharp sound cutting through the air and instantly grabbing their attention.
The force of the impact causes any lingering conversation to die down as they turn to face you
Their expressions shift as they recognize the burning anger in your eyes.
"How dare you insult my mother like that? If you call my mother a whore that also implies I'm like her!"
You snap at him before turning to your mother who is trying to find a way out of your upcoming scolding.
"And, you, Mom...do you think you have the right to bully him? That's an awful childish behavior."
"Bully him? I'm speaking facts."
Before the tension could escalate further, the heavy doors of the chamber burst open, and a guard escorted a messenger inside.
"Your Highness, we have received a messenger from Mycenae." the guard announced.
"They haven't even knocked. Clearly, everyone respects your husband." Your mother says, causing you to sigh while Tut ignores her.
The lead guard, a tall man, stepped forward and bowed deeply before Tutankhamun.
"My Pharaoh," The messenger began, his voice trembling with urgency,
"We bring grave news. The King of Mycenae and his wife have been found dead in their chambers, they were assassinated."
"We also have received news that the king of Hittite's second son was assassinated."
"So fast?"
No one hears Tutankhamun's question except for you due to his seat being closer to you.
You turn your head to look at him, his face is grim.
"This is bad, very bad," he announces.
"What do you mean?" you ask with narrowed eyes.
"Mycenae and Hittite were our allies, and with their kings dead, their kingdoms will fall into chaos, leaving our borders vulnerable." He pauses, his gaze distant as if strategizing his next move.
"Someone planned this," he says, clenching his fist.
"This wasn't just a simple assassination, it was a calculated attack on Egypt."
"If you will excuse me, I need to meet up with my viziers to discuss this urgent matter, dear wife."
You nodded at him before he took his leave with the other two men.
Your mother, Aikaterine, turns to you and begins speaking in a more serious voice.
"I don't have much time; we need to leave before that obsessed boy mummifies your body and keeps you in his chamber."
When you two are about to get up to leave, your mother disappears from your sight.
Leaving you all alone with no way of escaping this timeline.
