"This will do."

Sanemi and I had found a small area underneath a tree to settle down for the night, where he claimed we wouldn't die.

He had said earlier he would rather die then let me get hurt again, which made me have one of those moments where I felt like melting into the ground. I genuinely thought I had gotten a record breaking fever in that moment. But the chilly night air stopped me from dying.

"Oi listen to me." Sanemi snapped at me, after I failed to hear or register what he said. I still had my baby squirrel in my hands, he had been peacefully sleeping the whole time.

"Eh? What was it?" Sanemi had taken a seat under the tree and began starting a fire to keep us warm. Which was good because my child couldn't stay cold.

"I said get your ass over here, you've shivering." Oh. I didn't even notice. I looked down at my child who was also very cold, so I went and sat about a foot from Sanemi. He had just started the small fire, illuminating the tiny area as the sun disappeared behind the horizon.

"It's cold Nemi."

"No shit."

"I'm cold."

"Clearly."

"My child is cold."

"I don't care."

"You don't care about me?"

"I said the squirrel you idiot."

"So you do care about me?"

"Go to sleep."

I wanted a straight answer from him, even though I already knew the answer. I wanted to hear him say it, but I also knew he wouldn't budge that easy.

"Are you cold Nemi?"

"I don't get cold."

"You're not wearing you haori though, I am."

"I said I don't get cold. Now go to sleep."

"I'm going to get eaten by a demon."

"No you're not."

"I am."

"Are you stupid? I already said i'm not going to let you get eaten."

"But you're going to sleep."

"Who said I was sleeping?"

"Me."

"Go to sleep before I murder you myself."

So stubborn. So incredibly stubborn. 'Trying to make me sleep with out sleeping? Nah that ain't sliding.'

"I'm not sleeping until you sleep."

"I'm not playing with you."

"I'm not either."

"Ill knock you out and force you to sleep."

"You wouldn't."

"Don't tempt me."

This guy. Unbelievable.

"You aren't going to, and I'm not sleeping."

"Good night."

"I'm not sleepin-"

"I warned you."

'I'm so warm' I awoke and felt the sun on my skin, most likely peaking up from the horizon for the first time this morning. I felt my head resting on the grass, still wrapped in Sanemis haori I borrowed from the night before. I opened my eyes, and after adjusting to the sun, I saw Sanemi sitting inches from where I was laying down, just scanning the perimeter. Even though the sun was out and demons could no longer be out, he was apparently still on edge.
