Happy new year <3

He paused, taking a breath. "And even if he can't, it's not our concern."
"Not my concern?" I cut in, a scoff escaping.
Noah lifted his gaze, his hand still gripping the steering wheel, and glanced at me through the rearview mirror.
"Even knowing he's incapable of protecting her, do you really think I should just stand by?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "When has he ever been there when she actually needed him?"
"He doesn't even realize his own family members are trying to harm her, and you want me to keep her under his so-called protection?" A scoff escaped my lips as I continued, "Forget that-he doesn't even know what his wife is risking for him. Is this the protection you're defending?"
A sarcastic laugh slipped out, but Noah quickly interrupted, his tone sharp. "Yes, I still think you need to stay out of this." He paused, letting the silence in the car settle heavily before he continued.
"You've already done so much for her. Finding her, bringing Mr. Kim in to help, making sure she's safe at every step-all while knowing she's a married woman?" He looked at me intently, his brows furrowed.
Noah's gaze remained firm in the rearview mirror as he continued, his voice edged with concern.
"This is as much as anyone can do, and you've already done more than enough. You can't protect her forever. Did you forget what happened in the meeting with Ms. Vivian? You may have some documents, but there's still another copy in Vivian's hands. If she so much as suspects what's happening, she won't hesitate to come after you."
He let the silence settle heavily in the car before adding in a softer tone, "Remember, she's only quiet because she thinks you're doing all of this just to win y/n over. She has no idea what your real intentions are."
Noah's gaze hardened as he continued, "And whatever Ms. y/n is uncovering about her husband's family is her problem-not yours. She's doing all of this for her husband, trying to solve the mystery behind his parents' murder and keep him safe, knowing he could be next. But you?"
His eyes narrowed as he asked, "Why are you even involved? She doesn't even love you, for god's sake."

[Noah's pov]:
"Leave love aside... she doesn't even have any form of respect for you," I said, the harsh truth hanging in the air.
My words sounded cold, maybe even heartless, but he needed this reality check. He had to know he was chasing a shadow, something that couldn't love him back.
It wasn't that I cared about her, or the Jeons, or the Kims. I cared about him. I'd seen the loneliness he kept hidden, even while standing at the top. All he ever wanted in return for his loyalty and success was a little love, but he wouldn't get that from her.
This whole chase, this endless dedication-it was fueled by the tiniest glimmer of hope that, someday, she might love him back.
Someday-she might see him.
I respected his feelings, but I couldn't stand by while he pinned them on someone who would never see him, never understand him, never love him the way he deserved.
I still remember the day we found her. How his face lit up, the disbelief slowly giving way to pure joy.
