—#[the next day: Jungkook’s pov]:

“I can do this,” I muttered under my breath, fingers resting against my lips as my eyes stayed fixed on the laptop screen. “As long as I can get enough business partners on my side… I can handle the rest.”

Just a little more, Ethan Seo. And I’m taking my wife back.

A tired smirk tugged at the corner of my mouth—not one of triumph, but of quiet determination. The kind you wear when the world’s pushed you to the edge, and you’re still standing. Barely, maybe. But still here.

None of this—it wouldn’t have even been possible without Axel’s father stepping in. The man who is not just the president of Lee Corporation, but  also one of the most influential board directors out there. His discreet yet powerful support couldn't be underestimated.

But for now—I need to deal with something else first.

My gaze shifted away from the screen and toward the thick file lying beside me on the table. Its deep maroon cover bore the golden imprint of the Kim Group—one of the most powerful conglomerates in Asia—Vivian’s family.

I opened it again. For the tenth time, maybe. And like the last nine, I didn’t even get past halfway before my chest tightened. It was a huge deal. Massive, actually. Big enough to pull Jeon Corporation out of the mess. Big enough to shut down the rumours, the false claims, the whispers in boardrooms. All of it.

It was like a golden rope being thrown to a man they assumed was drowning. A lifeline. One that could restore everything I’d lost—my credibility, my partners, my dissolved projects.

But… of course, there’s a catch.

In exchange, I must agree to dissolve my current marriage and form a union—through legal matrimony—with Kim Vivian, sole heiress of the Kim family.

My fingers paused mid-turn. And slowly, as if scorched, I withdrew my hand from the file. It felt as if my hand had touched something toxic. And maybe it had.

My jaw clenched as I looked away, a bitter laugh slipped through my lips. Dry. Empty. Quiet. Marriage with Vivian? What a twisted joke.

Is that what they think of me? That I’d toss away my wife, my heart, my entire life… for a business deal? They actually believe they can buy me with desperation. That I’d bend if pushed hard enough. That I’d pick survival over love and sacrifice the one and only person who matters the most to me?

They think love is transactional. They think I’d sign away my soul just to stay standing in this war.

But—I don't think they understand. I don't think they have realised it yet.

If they knew me, they should have known it by now that—She’s not just my wife. She’s the reason I even started this in the first place. I don’t care about boardrooms or balance sheets or brand value. None of it means anything without her. And I would rather let everything I’ve built burn to ash than give her up.

Even the thought—Even imagining her with someone else… or believing I could belong to another woman—It was unbearable. Suffocating.

The proposal's already been rejected. I told Mr. Kim no. I made it clear. But that man didn’t even flinch—just smiled like he knew something I didn’t.

“I’ll give you a month,” he’d said. “Think it over. Time has a way of changing a man’s heart.”

As if time could make me forget the only person who’s ever made this cold world feel like home. They really don’t get it, do they? A month. He really thought time would erode the way I feel about y/n.
