OLIVIA STARED AT, the paper she had printed earlier in the day sat right in front of her. Her fingers danced on the edges as she continuously re-read the letter.
"Can't believe I'm actually doing this." a slight mutter, followed by a deep heavy sigh.
Olivia rubbed her eyes, looking at the time in under 12 hours she would be handing this letter into the school's administration.
A hand briefly touched her shoulder, massaging it slightly. "How is it going?" Tommy asked, his voice low as he picked up the letter silently reading it to himself.
"I mean, it's practically done. I just need to turn it in tomorrow." Olivia replied, looking up at her boyfriend as he continued to read.
Tommy reading the letter, felt his heartbeat faster and faster. He couldn't believe he was the reason his girlfriend was going to leave her job.
Yes, he was the one pleading, yes he was the one begging, yes he was the one who wanted her to go to his games and be his biggest supporter, but he could see it in her eyes.
"I don't know Olivia. I feel bad and shitty. I just-" Tommy began to ramble on, before getting cut off.
"Look Tommy, yes you pushed for it, but at the end of the day it's something I decided on doing." Olivia stated, "Just let me do this."
Tommy slightly nodded, not enthusiastically, but it was still a nod. "Okay." his voice low, he tried to put on a smile, but it didn't reach his eyes.
Olivia shifted away from the table as she made her way towards the bedroom immediately heading towards the closet, her hands reaching over the top shelf that she could hardly see over trying to reach for a pair of sweats, but her fingers grazed against something else.
A box.
The black box with a heavy lid was the first thing she had put into the bedroom, she had told Tommy to never touch it and it was all due to sentimental value.
It wasn't anything bad, matter a fact it was her motivation to continue being a teacher. So she knew reading it now wouldn't make sense, she should just let it be to stay in the back of the closet and to never look in it, but something her was in a trance.
Her hands grasped the box as she pulled it down and placed it right on her bed, her hands hesitated on the lid something in her told her not to open it, but her brain kept on pushing and pushing.
So she did.
Right inside was countless pieces of paper, the first one her eyes laid on was a drawing. A mess of bright colors and bold lines, a bright yellow sun right in the corner and the sky of blue scribbles that reached all the way down to the grassy green field decorated with flowers.
