THE BUS WAS hectic, and that's the only word Olivia could use that was kid friendly, she had kept true to her word and had asked Mr. Mune if she could have a field trip for the kids and just like Amaya had advised her he spent an entire week trying to figure out funding and asking Olivia to find chaperones.
Just like Olivia keeping true to her word so did Tommy, but it came with a little sacrifice. He hated asking to be kept off the line-up because duh who wouldn't want to play baseball, but what was worse was he felt heavily unprofessional not showing up to support his team, however he knew being with Olivia would make it up.
"I swear, if I hear one more kid ask when we'll get there, I'll lose it," Olivia whispered with slight frustration in her voice. But she knew it just meant the kids were excited.
Tommy laughed and turned his head to check on the kids once again, making sure they were all sitting and behaving. "Come on, Olivia, they're just excited. Don't worry about it."
She playfully rolled her eyes before lightly squeezing Tommy's bicep with her hand. "They better be. I spent day and night sending out emails to ensure parents were aware of the field trip, reminding them to sign permission slips, and even requesting chaperones." She stressed this to the shortstop.
Tommy was well aware of the effort and stress Olivia had endured to make sure the kids could go on their highly desired field trip. She went above and beyond, carefully selecting the best day, enlisting the right people for help, and making sure Tommy would be there since the kids adored him. "It will be amazing, I promise," Tommy reassured Olivia, his voice gentle as he leaned in closer, letting her rest her head on his shoulder

"Everyone, listen carefully. We will be getting off the bus soon and it is important that you stay with your trusted adult at all times. If someone who seems strange or unfamiliar tries to talk to you, what should you do?" Olivia's voice was firm as she reminded the children of the safety precautions for when they were in a crowded area.
The children responded in various ways – some answered confidently while others mumbled or nodded along with their peers.
"That response doesn't sound very confident," Olivia muttered under her breath, making sure the chaperones could hear her before turning to Tommy for confirmation.
