Season 4. Episode 6.
Yellow Fever.
The trio stood facing the coroner in their suits. The man zipped open the body bag to show the latest victim. "Agent Tyler, Agent Perry, Agent Kramer, meet Frank O'Brien."
"He died of a heart attack, right?" Sam raised a brow curiously.
The coroner nodded, "Three days ago."
Sam opened up the file, reading from it curiously, "But O'Brien was 44 years old and, according to this a marathon runner."
The coroner didn't seem bothered. He just shrugged casually, "Everybody drops dead sooner or later. It's why I got job security."
"Yeah, but Frank kicked it here. Now, just yesterday, two perfectly healthy men bit it in Maumee." Dean pointed out warily, "All heart attacks, you don't think that's strange?"
"Sounds like Maumee's problem to me. Why's the FBI give a damn, anyway?"
Sierra sighed at the coroner's lack of enthusiasm, the conversation clearly dragging. "We just want to see the results of Frank's autopsy."
The coroner frowned, "What autopsy?"
She sarcastically smiled, tilting her head at him. "The one you're gonna do for us. Now."
The coroner's face dropped a bit when he realised he had no choice but to comply. He got his scrubs on, also providing Sam, Dean and Sierra with protective clothing incase they got anything on their suits.
The coroner cut open the dead body with the scalpel whilst looking at the three agents, "First dead body?"
"Far from it." Dean nonchalantly replied, glancing at the wound.
"Oh, good. Because these suckers can get pretty ripe." The coroner warned, then turning his head to the side to nod at his equipment station, "Hey, hand me those rib cutters, would you?"
Sam took a fortifying breath while Sierra picked up the cutters and handed them to the coroner. The coroner cut the ribs open whilst Sam tried to keep himself from squirming.
Dean frowned, moving the dead man's hand to the side to see a mark around his ring finger, "Is that from a wedding ring? I didn't think Frank was married."
The coroner unknowingly shrugged, "Ain't my department."
"Any idea how he got these?" Sam then asked, picking up Frank's arm, which was full of scratches. The previous two dead bodies had the same scratches too.
"You know what? When you drop dead, you actually tend to drop. Body probably got scraped up when it hit the ground." The corner stated, then looked confused, "Huh!"
Sierra perked up, unfolding her arms, "What?"
"I-I can't find any blockages in any of the major arteries." He shook his head, then knitted his brows together whilst he broke off the heart. Sierra peered over to see whilst Dean looked like he was trying not to vomit. "Heart looks pretty damn healthy." He hummed, passing the heart to Dean, "Hold that a second, would you?"
Sierra and Sam both smirked, watching Dean's face drop and look cold. He gave them both death stares whilst holding the heart. The coroner then cut something else in the body, causing blood to squirt onto Sam's face and get in Sierra's hair.
"Oh, sorry." The coroner grimaced a bit, "Spleen juice." He added before looking back down at the body, not seeing Dean's widening smirk as he felt more relaxed with the heart in his hand.
