The soft glow of the morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm, golden hue across the room. I blinked a few times, letting my eyes adjust before stretching my arm out lazily.

When I turned my head, I was met with a sight that made my chest tighten in the best way. Kyra lay next to me, her hand resting lightly on my waist, her body half-covered by the blanket. She was on her belly, her face turned toward me, her back bare except for the thin strap of her top.

At the foot of the bed, Milo was curled up with his head resting on Kyra's legs. As soon as he noticed I was awake, his ears perked up, and he lifted his head to look at me. Then, as if deciding the morning wasn't worth the effort yet, he lowered it back down with a small huff.

Kyra stirred slightly, shifting closer to me, her hand sliding up just a little. Her breathing stayed slow and steady, her face peaceful in a way that made my heart ache with affection.

I couldn't help but smile as I reached for my phone on the bedside table. I tapped the screen to check the time—8 a.m.

I set it back down quietly and shifted closer to her, wrapping my arm gently around her waist. My body pressed against hers, and for a moment, I just lay there, taking in the soft rise and fall of her breathing. She looked so at peace, so relaxed, and I found myself tracing lazy circles on her back with my fingertips.

It was a rare thing to see her like this, she was just... Kyra.

A soft knock on the door broke the silence, and I froze for a second before glancing toward it.

"Yes, come in," I said softly, quickly pulling the blanket up to cover Kyra's shoulders.

The door creaked open, and Liam peeked his head inside. His messy hair and curious expression made me smile.

He looked at me first, then at Kyra, his voice hushed as he asked, "Is Auntie Kyra still sleeping?"

"She is," I whispered, my voice gentle.

"Ohh, alright," he said, nodding seriously as if he were on a secret mission. His gaze shifted to Milo, who had perked up at the sound of his name being mentioned. "Can I play with Milo?"

I glanced at Milo, who was now fully alert, his tail wagging slightly as he looked between me and Liam.

"Of course," I said with a small laugh. "Just be gentle. He's still waking up too."

Liam's face lit up, and he carefully approached the bed, holding out his hand for Milo, who immediately hopped off the mattress to follow him.

"Thanks, Auntie Blair!" Liam whispered as he disappeared with Milo in tow, closing the door quietly behind him.

I let out a soft laugh, shaking my head as I turned back to Kyra. She hadn't stirred through any of it, her breathing still deep and even. I propped myself up on one elbow, watching her for a moment.

Her hair was slightly messy, strands falling across her cheek, and the light from the window cast soft shadows across her skin. She was beautiful, and I found myself brushing a stray piece of hair away from her face.

"Good morning, amore," I murmured softly, even though I knew she wouldn't hear me.

Leaning down, I pressed a light kiss to her temple before settling back down beside her, my arm draping over her protectively. For now, I'd let her sleep. These quiet moments were too precious to let go of.

I lay there for a few minutes, the quiet of the room wrapping around me like a blanket. Kyra was still sleeping, her arm loosely draped over my waist, her body warm and soft against mine.
