jar of hearts (a poetry story)

"you're making me out to be a liar" he said

i knew he was a liar,

i just didn't know how to tell him i knew,

his likes went up,

more options added to his list,

his score goes up,
it's probably the girl with black hair i saw on his snap that day

he isn't the same man i met summer of 2023,
i knew from before

just never decided to start talking to him till that year

he told me everything i wanted to hear,
but if you were to ask him

he won't remember,

i called him out on things and he just made it about himself

he's selfish,
with no heart

all he did,
was make me question everything

and then i get hit with the
"anyways, i'm sorry i wasted your time"

i am not gonna be apart of this list you have of girls you like

i am not gonna be an option
and most definitely

i am not going to talk to a man that lies to me

he lies,
and he makes it sound so believable

maybe he even believes the own shit he says from his mouth at times

he hasn't called me pretty in over a year

the flirting died so i don't know why he decided to keep me around

i never trusted him,
but i wanted to

i wanted him to be different,
but he ended up disappointing me like the others

i lost my best friend because of him

there was times where i would defend him when the group would talk about him and make fun of him

no one is going to make fun of someone i like

absolutely not

my own friends didn't even like him
and they would laugh at him everytime they walked by his job

there was no point in saying anything because he doesn't know how to communicate,

he just picks and points which one he wants to answer

why would i continue talking to a man who isn't sure about me?

like it's been almost 2 years,

he is unbelievable,
he thinks he's perfect when i can pick and points which flaws he has

his social media says a lot about him,
especially who he talks to and who he is friends with

truth is i regret defending him,
i regret showing him my body when he has sex with different girls each month

truth is,
you can't change someone who doesn't want to change,
and that is just who he is as a person

some people in life don't deserve me,

and he is one of them
