Yunho didn’t realize he was walking on the edge of a cliff. With the display of affection they had shown yesterday, the public would inevitably think they were official. If not, there would be a storm of negative opinions, especially directed at Yunho. People would likely believe it was all just an act, a façade, unless they clarified their relationship. And even then, most of the criticism would still fall on Yunho.
Why? Because Mingi had made his feelings clear—or, okay, maybe not exactly clear. Mingi hadn’t outright declared his feelings, but his actions and behavior spoke volumes.
On the other hand, Yunho held no responsibility to define their relationship. At least, that’s how the public would perceive it. They were waiting to see how Yunho really felt about Mingi. Did he feel the same? Or not? Most would assume that it was Yunho who was leaving things in limbo.
And with the level of affection they had publicly displayed yesterday, if Yunho kept insisting that there was nothing between them—because, well, his role was to ensure there was no clarity—the public would start calling him a hypocrite.
And that was a terrible look.
Not for Yunho’s image. Not for his career.
Yeosang glanced at the paparazzi photo on the cover of the magazine at the top of the stack in her arms. A photo of Yunho laughing brightly while Mingi held his hand as they left a coffee shop. Mingi looked at him like he was the most precious thing in the world, admiration and tenderness clear in an expression Yeosang couldn’t understand how anyone could convey so perfectly.
You can’t enjoy this, Yunho. Because no matter how good it feels, this is just acting. A little deception to cover up Mingi’s recklessness.
Mingi will leave eventually.
You can’t fall in love this time, Yunho, Yeosang thought again. Because Mingi is here now, but only as a temporary presence—someone destined to leave.
Yeosang had never seen Yunho look this happy before. Okay, maybe she had, but she had never expected to see him this radiant while with Song Mingi, of all people. Like, hello? This was Song Mingi and Jung Yunho—if you’d ever seen them interact during the filming of Folie à Deux, you’d know how tense the atmosphere was whenever they were in the same room. Unless they were acting, they could never talk to each other without it turning into an argument.
Yeosang looked at the photo of Yunho again. There was a trace of tears in his eyes, but his smile reached them too. He was smiling, genuinely, without pretending.
Yeosang had worked with Yunho for nearly five years. She knew when he was acting and when he was being sincere. When he was uncomfortable and when he was at ease.
This single photograph showed two things:
Yunho wasn’t acting.
And he felt comfortable around that Song Mingi.A situation that could become a huge problem if left unchecked.
Yeosang inhaled deeply. She needed Big Matthew to step in, to terminate the agreement as soon as possible before public opinion turned against Yunho again. Come on, Yunho was a celebrity who had already been through a major scandal. Negative perceptions of him still lingered in every corner. It was far too easy for people to blame someone who already carried a tarnished image.
Yeosang tucked a stray lock of hair back behind her ear. She needed to cut her hair.
And she needed to teach Yunho to stop being so naïve.
