Hayes opened the door and we stepped in to see Nash and Rae on two separate beds.
I was right. Rae looks dead. She's just lying there. Her skin looks pale. Not much color in her cheeks. There's a huge cut on the top of her forehead stitched up. There was a butterfly bandaid on her eye brow holding a cut together. There were smaller cuts in her face and lips that were dry now. There was a huge bruise on her right cheek. Her right arm had wrap around it, while her left has more cuts and bruises. Her breathing is small, but hey, at least she's breathing.
"Hey guys," Nash croaked from his bed. He had the same look as Rae, except he was awake and with the huge bruise on his left cheek, and wrap on his left arm. It's kind of like if they looked straight on at each other, their marks would be mirroring each other.
"Hey bud," Hayes said coming up next to him. I just watched Rae, "How are ya feelin'?
"Hayes can I talk with Cam?" Nash asked. Hayes nodded and left the room. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean any of this to happen. I don't even know how it happened."
"It's not your fault. A drunk driven car rear ended you, pushing you forward into the intersection and another car spun you guys out of control and flipped you a few times."
"Still, it's my fault."
"No it's not bro, this could have happened to anyone."
"But it happened to us!" Nash said raising his voice.
"At least you both are alive and are going to be perfectly fine."
"I don't care about that! I care that we could have died!" He said getting mad.
"But you didn't!" I shouted.
"What if?! What would you have done if we did die tonight?!"
"You didn't die though! You didn't die! I'm not going to think about that! I'm not going to think about my little sister and best friend dying! I'm not going to!" I shouted. My fists were tight, jaw clenched, I was ready to throw a punch at my best friend because he's making me think about the unthinkable.
"I think you should get some rest back at the hotel. Rae will probably wake up tomorrow," Nash said turning to his side away from me.
"Fine. I'll be back tomorrow, she better be awake."
*Nash's P.O.V*
Why can't he just think about that? We got lucky. We could have died. We should have died but we got lucky. "Nash?" I heard her say. I better not be imagining things.
I turned over to see Rae squinting her eyes from the light, and holding her head from the pain. "Hey, you're finally awake," I said getting up slowly walking over to her bed.
"Good thing I'm not dead, wouldn't want Cam to get mad," she said smirking.
"You heard that?" I asked a little embarrassed.
"It woke me up," she said smiling.
"Why didn't you tell us?" I asked putting my good hand on her back and softly rubbed it.
"Because Cam wouldn't have left if I woke up," she said slightly laughing.
"Yeah, I kind of pissed him off," I said laughing. She rested her head on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry," I said as a tear fell down my cheek.
"Nash you did nothing wrong," she said looking up and interlocking our fingers.
"No, I did everything wrong."
"That crash had nothing to do with you!" she said starting to cry.
"What if we stayed at the garden just a minute longer!? Or if we left five minutes earlier!? Huh? We wouldn't be here right now. We wouldn't have all of the cuts and bruises! Our arms wouldn't be broken! We wouldn't have these headaches from loss of blood! If I got us to leave a minute different from when we did, we wouldn't be in this situation."
She sighed, but then smiled, "At least I'm in this situation with you."
I laughed, "What's the difference from anyone else?"
"Well when my kids ask about the day I said yes to their daddy, I'm going to tell them this one first. I said yes to keep a promise to love you until it was time to actually say yes. I mean we are never going to forget that night. How could we? Think of how cool our kids are going to think we are."
"Our kids?" I asked looking down at her smiling.
"Well yeah, you do want to have kids don't you? I mean you already almost did!" she said joking around.
"I only want to have kids as long as you're their mom," I said kissing her forehead.
"But still, we're way too young!"
"Way too young!" I said agreeing with her. We both laugh at our comments after that conversation. This is why I love her. Even in the worst of times, she can still make me laugh.
There was a knock on the door. Everyone in the crew and Macy came in except Cam and obviously Shawn. "You're alive!" Matt exclaimed jumping with joy.
"You're broken!" Macy exclaimed jokingly.
"Just a little," Rae said getting up to hug her.
"How's Cam?" I asked Taylor.
"Well he passed us in the hall looking mad, said that he was going back to the hotel, then left."
"Great!" I said sarcastically.
"Yeah, but I've got worse news for ya," Taylor said, "the fans already know."
"Shit."
