Ella paused for a brief moment. Uncertain whether to move away and stray or to stay; it wasn't everyday she would see a youtuber who she admired- well. Pj let out a slow breath,
"Before you go, Ella, I'd like to know a little more."
"Huh?"
"Well, I just met you." He continued. " And I'm quite surprised Dan and Phil have adopted someone."
Ella liked how that sounded 'adopted by Dan and Phil'. She'd read plenty of fanfictions in the past, each one pulling her head first into a wonderful story where Dan and Phil had rescued their own little girl or boy from a orphanage and were whisked away to YouTube land where all their fantasies came true. But this was reality and she was living her fantasy.
"Trust me," Ella laughed shortly, "I was surprised too."
Pj gave her an uncertain look.
"It's a long story."
"Which I'd love to hear."Ella stood awkwardly not knowing what to do, what to say, what to think...Suddenly she heard the annoying chirp of a watch, ticking a reminder. Pj looked at his watch and sighed.
"Oh I've got to go meet up with Chris. I believe I will have to hear this story another time."
His voice sounded disappointed, himself being a storyteller, probably was upset to be missing on Ella's tale on how she ended up living with two major youtubers. He then turned to his friend Leo who was being strangely quiet behind him.
"Are you coming then?"
"No, if it's alright I'd actually like to hear the story." Leo replied, finally speaking.
Ella was taken aback, but then nodded her head.
"Alright then." Pj smiled.
He then looked back at Ella and looked at her sweetly in the eye, "shall I give you my number because I am really bummed I don't have time to hear this."
"S-sure," Ella stammered, quite stunned at the fact she was getting his number.Before rushing away to whatever business he had, he quickly placed his number in her contacts and told her what days he was free. Meanwhile Ella's mind had completely blown, she couldn't even comprehend what was happening. She raised her arm slowly and waved incredibly jerky as he left- filled with shock. The wind picked up and blew her hair behind her, she took a small piece and tucked it neatly behind her ear. At the same time she felt a light tap on her shoulder and turned to Leo.
"So how about coffee?"
~~~~
Ella stepped inside the cool coffee shop, her eyes wondered around the shop. Looking at the bustle of people ordering and baristas rushing around taking orders. The air was filed with a sweet and strong scent of brewing coffee. Leo motioned for her to sit down on the two-seater table to her right. So she did.
"Regular caramel coffee for me," Leo said "And you?"
Ella replied, her accent clearly showing as she found it difficult to pronounce.
"A caramel macchiato."
He left to order and soon came back with their drinks. As he sat down Leo began to laugh briefly.
"What?" Ella demanded.
"Say macchiato again," he grinned.
Ella blushed, "aw please no. Leave me alone," she then covered her blushing face with her hands.She felt the gentle touch of warm hands on her own, moving them away to show her face. Ella's eyes opened to see his soft ones piercing into hers. The ocean blues and
sea greens in his eyes almost lightened in the brightness of the light above them. His pupils were small and dilated, almost invisible if it weren't for how light his eyes were.
"Macchiato." He said mimicking her accent.
Ella's mouth twitched into a smile, "macchiato,"
From that their conversation sprung. She told him everything; of her life in Spain. Her friends, family. How and why she moved. How coincidently she was now with Dan and Phil. What had happened so far. He was so easy to talk to. And she learned a lot about him too. Leo was taking a break from university over the summer and was renting an apartment in the area. He was 20 this year, which meant he was a whole four years older than her. He studied science as he was taking after his mum who was actually a nurse- in fact his mum worked as in nurse in the hospital Ella's mum was at.
Ella wondered to herself, "maybe his mum has seen mine somehow?"Ella took a sip of her coffee, the light taste of caramel clung on to her tongue making her lick her lips shortly.
"What about your mum?" Leo asked.
"Huh?"
"You said you came here because of her."
"Well like I said she's in the hospital. But I haven't received any word from them. I'm not allowed to visit her as shes in the emergency ward and I don't think I'm old enough to go by myself unless it's different here in UK."
Leo saw her face drop, "sorry for talking about it,"
Ella shook her head. "No it's fine- it's just with everything happening I feel I've forgotten her."
Leo paused and then finally replied, "Maybe that's why she made you stay with Dan and Phil. She knew you loved them and thought it would be easier to forget so you could have a good summer."Ella took a sip of the coffee which was a tad cold. " Tell me about yourself Leo,"
"Well I'm an incredibly gorgeous girl who lived in Spain but is now chilling out with two huge youtubers and-"
"About yourself Leo. And did you call me-"
"Oh look at the time Ella," Leo sprung from the table. "It appears I have to go."
"You're not leaving now-"
He laughed and bit the side of his lip, then showed his watch to her on his wrist.
"It's 10:30, I have to to go."
"But-"
"Bye,"
Just before Ella could finish he rushed off. Ella sighed and slumped back into her chair and finished her coffee. She looked down and saw there was writing on the small serviette in front of her. It read in messy writing;
' Id really like to see you again - Leo '
And underneath it had number.She wrote it in her contacts on her phone and walked out of the coffee shop and back to the station. She waited for the train and hopped on, her face revealing a small blushing smile from her encounter with Leo.
Yet, what Ella didn't notice is the two heads of hair, one cyan and one almost ebony black which followed her discretely the whole way home.
