"Ella, Ella." A hushed voice whispered in her ear.
Ella slowly fluttered her eyes open and felt an arm shaking her lightly in order for her wake up. She was greeted by a pair of glistening, soft blue eyes which belonged to none other than Phil.
"Time to get off the train," he smiled at her.
His voice was qui he obviously did not want to disturb her. He was such an adorable person. Ella let out a hearty yawn and stretched out her arms behind her.
"Come on," he tapped her on the shoulder. "Dan's collected the luggage and is waiting for us."
"Mmm..okay."
Phil kindly helped Ella up by offering an arm for her to hold, considering she was filled with fatigue from travelling. As they exited the train they saw Dan who waved at them.
"Hello sleepy," he laughed.
Ella yawned. "How long was I asleep?"
"Soon as the train moved you went out like a light."
"What can I say, travelling makes me sleepy."They began to walk out of the station. Ella noticed Dan and Phil kept exchanging glances and smirks. She also strangely noticed lots of people who passed her stared at her face for an unusual amount of time. Was something wrong with her face?
She turned her head slightly to talk to them, "Is there something wrong with me? Everyone keeps looking at me..."
"No nothing." Dan said quickly.
Ella shrugged her shoulders and turned forward again.
Phil's lips curved into a smile. "We may or may not have drawn cat whiskers on your face."
"What."
Ella stopped at her tracks and reached up to her nose. When she looked down at her fingers, she saw her fingertips were smudged with black. They both instantly burst into laugher.
"You guys!" Ella tried to find a place where she could see for herself but didn't have a mirror to look at. "I'm too tired to be mad right now, but if I was in my normal mode; you'd both be so dead right now."As soon as they exited the train station, the instant smell of sea and salt filled the sticky night time summer air around them. The scent made her think of her home in Sotogrande. It reminded her of the the long copper beach by the port which she would go to every weekend with her friends, and climb on the damp rocks which poked out of the water. Ella smiled to herself thinking of all the memories she had. Then frowned realising she was no longer there.
"You alright Ella?" Phil asked concerned.
"Yes, I am. I'm just..." Ella shrugged her feelings away. "I'm just tired from the train ride."
She then stretched her arms and did an incredibly fake yawn- which Phil could see past, but he didn't want to ask if she didn't want to tell.
They continued walking for a good ten minutes until Ella decided to ask.
"Erm, where are we actually staying?"
"Oh we were going to stay at a hotel." Dan went on. "But since it's summer, quite a few people have come down for the seaside. So all the hotels were booked."
"Oh."They turned a corner and went down a road which was right beside the pier. Ella was longing to see the beach and feel the spray of the oceans waves. They were so close, she could practically hear the waves crash onto the shore.
"So instead we are staying with Zoe I believe,"
"No," Ella said dumbfounded.
"Only for one night, tomorrow we are going to the hotel."
"But you said all the hotels were booked."
"Yeah; until tomorrow."
Ella wished she could slap Dan in the face and throw him into a bin for making her look stupid. He saw she was annoyed and this edged him on to tease her further. His mocking went on for a while longer.
"Dan stop taking the mick out of Ella," Phil spoke, snaking his arm round Ella's shoulders and squeezing her to his side.
Ella replied by hugging Phil back and raising her eyebrows in annoyance at Dan .
"Yes thank you Phil."
"Fine fine." Dan rolled his eyes and grinned. "But next time Philly won't be able to save you."Ella's heart practically leaped when he called Phil 'Philly'. Her phangirl heart couldn't take so much in. The pheels were driving her insane- especially since she was the only one who knew Phan was real.
Phil lifted his chin, "how do you know Dan? I can save Ella any time from you."
"Really?" Dan laughed. "Are you superman now?"
"No," Phil said, turning his head to look at him in the eye. "I'm just Phil."
Phil walked forward with Ella by his side. Even his eyes were smiling brightly, the blue colour filled his eyes so much you could barely see his pupils.
"Phil you absolute angel," Ella said hugging him tighter and burying her face in his side.
Ella was so caught up in the moment she hadn't noticed where they were going. And now, somehow, they had ended up at the entrance of a house.
"Is this where they live?" Ella asked in a hushed tone.
"If I remember correctly I think so." Phil replied.
Phil sent his fist down on the door and knocked a few times. Dan followed behind them.
"Christ Phil I think they get the message." Dan exclaimed at how loudly he was knocking.
"Sorry."They waited and waited. No answer.
"Christ Phil I think they get the message." Phil's voice bitterly mocked Dans from moments ago.
"Okay, I'm sorry." Dan apologised. "Knock again."
Just as Phil was about to knock the door slowly creaked open. They all smiled with relief expecting to see Zoe of Alfie answer the door. But instead; were greeted by an old woman with incredibly short, curly grey locks and a hunched back.
"Hello?" Her withered voice asked. "Are you one of my grandchildren?"
"Oh no sorry. Wrong house." Phil said backing away from the door.
The lady's expression changed drastically. "Hooligans." She spat. "Don't come knocking here at this hour again."
Phil raised his hands apologetically, "we're sorry it was just a mistake."
Without even listening to Phil or caring what he was saying she slammed the door in his face.
"Ohh," he said deeply letting his face drop.
"Aw Phil." Ella said patting him on the back. "She was probably having a bad night."Ella's comforting was covered by Dans hyena like laughter which echoed around the area. He then lifted his hand to his mouth to hide it but it made it worse.
"Sorry Phil!" He said through laughter.
"Hmph."
Dan then reached out to hug him. Which Phil moved away. Dan stared at him, face shocked.
Phil then laughed, "just kidding," and returned the hug.
"Thank god Phil." Dan said pulling away. "I was like crap he must be angry."
"I'm too nice of a person aren't i?" Phil asked as the three of them made their way to the actual house.
"No. You're perfect Phil." Dan replied.
Ella screamed in her head, "pheels!"
Phil gave an adorable smile and let his tongue poke out between his teeth while Dan stretched his arm out to ruffle Phil's hair for a second teasingly. They then noticed Ella who was a step behind them who looked like she was on the verge of hyperventilating.
"Haha, you okay Ella?" Dan asked.
"Y-yeah." She wheezed taking a breath. "Just fine."
Dan then imitated what was going through her mind. "Ahh the pheels. Too many pheels." He clutched a hand to his heart and another raised at the sky, slightly bent at the elbow.
"Basically that." She nodded at what he was doing.
Suddenly, they were interrupted by a perky and sweet female voice which came from the main door of the house.
"Dan? Phil? I thought I heard voices! Oh and you must be Ella."
It was Zoe.
