Ella slid the glass door open and stepped outside into the garden. The freshly cut green grass tickled between her toes and the sky was clear as crystal. She sank to the ground and lay facing the baby blue Spain sky, she squinted her eyes as the shimmering sun glazed across the garden. She then shut her eyes tight and took a deep, slow breath. Suddenly, there was a strange 'beep' sound coming from her jean shorts pocket. Ella reached for her phone and checked to see that her best friend had message- she ignored it, shut her phone and tossed it to the side where it landed on its front on a patch of honey yellow flowers. The large tree in the centre of the garden branches danced in the gentle summer breeze. She sighed. Her world was coming apart. Lately, her mother had been getting worse. Day by day she was becoming more frail and weak- all she could do was lie on her bed while Ella held her hand and sang her to sleep. The illness her mother had was very obscure and different; almost never seen before. The treatment she had been put to, which had been working wonders for two years was at its end of luck. So they decided to give her some medicine; but the non-stop tablets just made her worse. Slowly her fair tanned skin turned a pale grey and her Mediterranean brown eyes became sullen and dull. All Ella could do was hope for the best and that the summer break will give her more time to help her mother.

Ella sat up and hugged her knees tightly, her stomach felt as if it were turning inside out and her eyes wield tears. She only let a single one drop before she wiped it away and calmed herself.
"I have to stay strong," she whispered to herself, tucking a strand of chestnut brown hair behind her ear. "I have to."
She began to sob and held her face in her palms, with the back of her hands she wiped once more the streaming tears and removed the strands of hair which stuck to her face. Suddenly, there was another buzz from her phone. She reached to her side, falling and laying sprawled face down in the grass. The corner of her mouth twitched into a smile and her olive green eyes lightened when she saw a notification which had the words, 'new video' and 'Danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil'. She unlocked her phone and switched on YouTube and was greeted by the same familiar voices.
"Hello Internet!"
She smiled as the video continued, she began to laugh and forget the tragedy that was her reality and was caught up in a world of laughs and 'internet support group'. Ella had been watching Dan and Phil since she could remember, they were like old friends to her- even though she didn't know them. She could relate to every word they said and they helped her through the thick and thin.
"It's the sexy end screen dance, click here to subscribe so you'll know when I make more videos!" Dan said.

And with that the video ended, she chewed the inside of her cheek as reality came seeping in. She began to play Phil's new video when a weak voice called her, "Ella?"
Ella jumped up from the ground and quickly rushed inside the house and up the spiralling staircase to her mothers room. She swung the door to the room open and held it gently so it wouldn't slam shut. As she stepped in she saw her mother sitting up in her bed surrounded by white fluffy pillows.
"Yes mama?" Ella asked.
"¿me puedes traer un vaso de agua?"
Ella nodded and rushed down to the kitchen. She hurried to the cabinet and grabbed a glass, she ran over to the tap and turned the knob, clear water began to spray out and it splashed and filled the glass. Once full, Ella ran back up and handed it to her. Her mother let out a shaky hand and held it in her grip.
"Thank you."
Ella and her mother had lived in Sotogrande Spain for all her life, she had always enjoyed the warm Mediterranean winters and hot sticky summers here. She had gone to a private school where they spoke English, however she picked up Spanish very fluently just as her mother. They had lived in peace until Ella was twelve- that was when her father had left them for another, however it was that same year her mother had become ill.
"Ella," her mother said softly. "I think you know that I am very ill and need a lot of help."
Ella choked on her tears and held her feelings in. "Yes mama."
Her mother paused and pressed her lips together, she then continued.
"I have received word from the doctors in Madrid that I will be sent somewhere for extra treatment."
Ella's eyes widened her heart beat began to fasten and her body stiffened. There was a strange silence to her mothers voice which told her something was going to happen.
"What do you mean?" Ella asked with concern.
Her legs began to shake, she felt as if any moment now she would topple over and collapse on the floor.
Her mother took in a deep breath.
"I'm being sent to London."
