(Madison's point of view)
Denny and I sat on the pit wall for about ten more minutes. Then we decided to go back to the motor home instead of Matt's. Danica was outside sitting when we came back. She came up to me and smiled.
"I'm sorry." We both said in unison.
Danica and I giggled. She looked at Denny, "I'm sorry for yelling at you. I know you, and I know you wouldn't wreck me on purpose. It was just in the heat of the moment."
Denny nodded and they hugged, and then Danica hugged me. We said goodnight and headed to our motor home's.
Friday, Feb. 20
Today's been a pretty normal on-track day. Practice for both Sprint Cup and Xfinity. Denny did really well as usual. I think I'm getting pretty used to this. Xfinity also has qualifying, but it's around six o'clock. After that the track activities stop until tomorrow.
Saturday, Feb. 21
Denny and I are currently sitting on the couch, with Taylor, watching the Xfinity race. We of course are cheering on Denny's teammate, Kyle Busch. I was starting to drift off to sleep. I was holding Taylor who was already asleep, and I had my head on Denny's shoulder.
Suddenly, He stood up and was intently watching the TV. I looked at the TV just as Kyle's car collides with an infield wall. I could hear screaming and yelling outside. Denny had his hands on his head, fear written all over his face. Mary Lou was sitting at the table holding Sophia. We all watched as Kyle climbed from the car with the aid of the track EMS. He was definitely hurt, and we were all very scared.
Mary looked at Denny and me, "You guys go. I'll watch the girls."
Denny just nodded and grabbed his coat. I pulled on my sweater. "Thank you, Mary." I said to her, while covering Taylor up with a blanket. At this point I had tears in my eyes. Since meeting Kyle at Denny's Christmas party, we've grown really close. His wife, Samantha, and I are very close.
When I closed the motor home door, Denny was already in the car. Danica and Ricky were walking towards me.
"Are you going to the hospital?" Danica asked.
"Yeah. You guy's want to ride with us?"
"Yeah. Thanks." She replied.
Denny looked really scared. I grabbed his hand before he backed the car up.
"It's gonna be okay." I told him, knowing that this reminded him of his accident in 2013.
He nodded and said, "Thank you."
He drove over to the infield care center and waited to see if they were bringing Kyle there first. I saw Samantha and Denny got out of the car, I followed. Sam ran into Denny's arms. She was crying hysterically. "It's gonna be okay. We're here, okay. It's gonna be alright." Denny kept repeating to Sam. An ambulance drove up next to us. The doctors from the infield care center ran out and they got in. Seconds later they stepped out and called to Sam that Kyle needed to go to the hospital. She let go of Denny and got into the back of the ambulance. We rode to the hospital, following the ambulance. We were told to sit in the waiting room. We were sitting with Sam and I was holding her hand. Denny suddenly got up and walked out the front doors of the hospital.
I got worried and Sam noticed, she looked at me, "Go." She said to me.
"But I don't want to leave you." I replied to her.
