Backroad Fate

Chapter 33

                 (Denny's point of view)

          I cannot believe that I just won the Daytona 500. I have dreamed of this moment my entire life, and it's finally here. After victory lane, the whole JGR team and my crew went out to celebrate. This is honestly the biggest win of my career and I can't wait to see what comes next. 

               (Madison's point of view)

          I rented out the party room at a local restaurant to celebrate  our Daytona 500 win. Taylor and Sophia went back to the motor home with Denny's parents. 

          Once everyone was seated and had their drinks, Denny stood up to give a speech. Everyone became silent as he looked around with a smirk on his face. 

          He chuckled lightly, "Can you guys believe this?.... We just won the Daytona 500!" 

          Everyone erupted in cheers and claps. Denny smiled and continued, "I wanna thank everyone in this room. Today wouldn't have been possible without you guys. Dave (Dave Rogers, Denny's crew chief) thank you for always being my cheerleader, and making the right calls. Pit crew, you guys are the absolute best out there. Coach and J.D., thank you for taking a chance on me, when no one else would. You guys have allowed me to live my dreams day in and day out. To my beautiful girlfriend, you have supported me through everything. Our story is quite interesting, to say the least , but you have loved me through it all. I am so lucky to get to spend every waking second with you and your daughter. I absolutely love the way you love my daughter like your own. I couldn't be any happier with anyone else but you. Thank you for making me the happiest man in the world. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and our girls."

       I smiled at Denny and he smiled back. We blushed as everyone whistled and clapped at us. 

      Denny raised his glass, "This Daytona 500 win isn't just for the eleven team. It is for everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing. Congrats guys." Everyone clinked their glasses and drank to the win. It really was a moment for the history books. I have a feeling that this year is going to be the year. 

     Denny looked at me smiling, "Whatcha thinkin' about?" 

     I shrugged, "I think that this year is the year that you get the championship that you've always wanted." 

     "You really think so?" Denny asked. 

      "Yeah... I do." I said, smiling at him. 

      He leaned in and we kissed. This really is the life I had always imagined for myself. I guess I just always thought that it would never happen.

     OMG that Denny Hamlin news! I am so glad that he is okay. I do not think his injury will hold him back the rest of the season . For those of you that don't now what happened, here is the whole story. This article really shows how tough Denny is.
