**Important: This chapter deals partially with the subject of bullying. There will be a brief scene of fighting/assault. I want you all to be safe and happy, so if that is triggering/makes you uncomfortable, I will put a warning sign near the section in the story where that happens. But I don't want you to miss the whole chapter because it's pretty important and the rest is very cute.

Okay, you may proceed.**

Dan traces his finger along the spine of his notebook, sneaking glances over at Phil. It has now been a month since they kissed- well, more like Dan kissed Phil, but that's beside the point.

He has managed to avoid the seventh year Vincent and his posse of seventh and sixth year girls ever since they confronted him at Hogsmeade, although he knows that he can't hide from them forever. He's gotten really lucky this year; with Phil, Louise, Chris, PJ, and a bunch of others having his back, they haven't managed to physically (or even verbally) assault him at all. It was the first time since- well, since the whole "First Year Fiasco," as Louise refers to it.

But luckily, Vincent Goyle (son of Gregory Goyle) will be gone from Hogwarts forever in just one short more semester. And Dan will stand up and sing hallelujah when he does.

But enough negative thoughts. The last thing Dan needs is more of those.

Phil nudges him lightly with his elbow. "Hey Dan, Flitwick is saying that we need to turn that stuff in in five days. Are you paying attention?"

Dan nods, distracted by the way that Phil's dark fringe falls in front of his electric blue eyes. He can't forget the way that they looked at him when he pressed his lips to Phil's.

Something tugs at the corners of Phil's mouth. "Well, then. That's good. "

Professor Flitwick taps his wand against his desk and clears his throat. "Now, as you know, in fifth year we are required to try to teach you the Patronus charm." A murmur of concern, excitement, and confusion ripples across the classroom. Dan raises his eyebrows at Phil, who nods knowingly. Flitwick continues: "Twenty years ago, a group of our students banded together and used thePatronus charm to ward off evil. They were your age, some even younger. Now, who can tell me the most important thing about casting a Patronus?"

A Hufflepuff girl's hand shoots up in the air. Flitwick points one of his stubby fingers in her direction.

"The way that one casts a Patronus is to focus on a happy memory, the best one that you can think of."

"Very good, Miss Sofia." He waddles over to his desk and opens a textbook. "Who can give some examples of a good memory?"

A few kids raise their hands and call out answers.

"First kiss!"

"Seeing someone you love after a long time of being apart!"

"When the pizza delivery guy comes to your door!" A few students laugh, the rest scratch their heads in confusion. Flitwick nods his head.

"Uh, yes, those are all very good suggestions. The correct incantation for conjuring one's Patronus is, as I'm sure some of you know, expecto patronum." He eyes the students mercilessly, resembling a bird of prey. "Who would like to go first?"
