Valentines Day.
The one day of the year when all those couples would do all that cheesy 'I love you' and 'Be mine' stuff, worldwide. But for the singles out there, Valentines day was just a big fat reminder of how they were alone.
George Glooman was familiar with this lonely feeling. For the past eleven years, on the 14th of February, he would walk past couples, groups of friends, the school football team, boys looking for girls to give roses to, but what would he do? he would sit in a corner, and get on with his day as if there was nothing unusual about it. The teacher would say, 'Partner up!' and in seconds, everyone besides him would have a partner.
But this year was going to be different.
George had friends this year. Yes, he had real friends. The King of their year was friends with him. He considered himself rather lucky. As if the universe had finally decided that he deserved friends.
And besides, he'd done research on Valentines day. Not enough though. He had one question he just couldn't answer yet. What does it mean to be friends? So he decided to do some practical research. He was going to ask all his newfound friends.

Ewen & Emile
*Flashback*
"Hello Ewen, Emile. Would you mind answering a few questions for me?" George asked.
"AAAGGHH! Where did YOU come from?!" Emile screamed, startled by George's sudden entry.
"Behind you." George replied, unaware of his sudden interruption.
"Yeah, whatever. What do you want Glooman?" Ewen asked, nonchalantly.
"Well, I wanted to know why you always call Desmond, Bossman? " George asked, genuinely curious.
"Why'd you ask that?" Emile asked, shocked that he wouldn't just assume they were his minions.
"Well, minions wouldn't be as happy as you guys are when Desmond achieves something. Is it love?" He replied, without thinking.
"Waaaahaaaaaa!" Emile burst into tears as Ewen patted his back.
"Well it all started in nursery. Everyone wanted to be Bossman's friend the minute they saw him. But Bossman knew it was because of the money and the fame, that's how life was balanced out for him. He had the looks, skull, discipline, money and fame but no real friends. He didn't have anyone that would praise him if he achieved an award, and the person he looked up to was his Father who wouldn't even glance at him, unless he was required to do so. His attention was on Bossman's big brother, Demetrius. And so Bossman was always craving his Father's approval." Ewen said as he looked down tears in his eyes.
"Everyone would start crowding him, asking if they were friends or if he could marry them, and soon he got sick of it so he would use the excuse of study to isolate himself. But we didn't want be his friends for the money or the fame, since we are already both, but we wanted to be his friends because we admire him. To us he was like an angel who was sent down to earth and was perfect. He got As in all his tests, he was never late, he spoke like a true leader, he was the king of the year. But we noticed very quickly that when it came to playtime or break he would always say he was busy studying. One time he even said he needed to study for a test that was years away. So we decided to become his friends. At first our friendship was VERY rocky, don't get me wrong he's a nice guy but at the time he was dossier than he is now. Then soon people started saying that we were his minions, of course we were offended, but we were glad that we could finally get closer to him. And now people still think we're his henchmen but in the end we're the bestest of friends, and we'll always love each other, no matter how bossy or how mean the other is. As the saying goes,' All for one and one for all!'"
George looked at the two of them with tears in his eyes, how could friendship be so beautiful and strong?
"That was such a beautiful story!" He replied as he broke down in tears looking at his new found friends with a new light.
*Back to the present*
Love doesn't have to be romantic George wrote in his Notebook as he felt a warmth in his chest.

Becky
George wasn't sure if he should even ask Becky at first ( he was familiar with her 'expertise on romance' ) but decided that he'd be paying he back for her singing.
George walked with purpose, ready to face crowds to find her, but to his surprise found her on a bench by herself. She was crying, and had a piece of paper in front of her.
"Blackbell, are you alright?" He asked as he hurried over.
"You ruined it!" Becky screeched. She was practising a crying scene for her next performance.
"Oh sorry." George replied with a sheepish grin.
"What are you here for anyways?" She asked, peering over at his notebook.
George sat down on the bench as opened his notebook," I'm asking all my newfound friends what love is to them!" he said with a smile.
Becky's eyes widened with joy, love was a topic she could talk about for days. He braced himself as he saw Becky give him the most enthusiastic smile he had ever seen.
"Well listen close dorito head. You better write down everything I tell you, and I'm warning you it's A LOT, but someday you'll thank me.
A girl likes a lot of things in a guy besides appearance. She doesn't want a childish boy, she wants a MAN. A girl always wants a who is respectful and kind. You must treat her right, be a gentleman. A girl also wants a guy who has a good sense of humour, she doesn't want a stone cold statue. Another green flag girl's look for is confidence. She admires a man who is very confident about sharing opinions. And something I'm always asked is, does it help if you dress well? Yes, it does. You see, girls judge based on your appearance at first then your personality later. And to cheer you up it seems 80% of the girls in this school like dark-haired boys so it seems you might actually have a chance Glooman!" Becky ended, hoping he was satisfied.
George was red as a tomato, his wrist aching after all that scribbling down in his notebook.
*Flash forward*
Don't rush or force romance. If they don't love you for who you are then they aren't for you , George wrote, wiping the sweat of his forehead.
