»Seamus' POV«

I don't know what happened really. We were talking in the kitchen, Merel and I, and all the sudden she hit the ground. From then on it was all a blur. My heart was racing and I was going insane. My whole body was shaking and my face felt like it was on fire.

It was one in the morning, so I assumed it was Sophia when I heard the waiting room doors open. I was right, and she was accompanied by Charlotte and Tiffany. Sophia ran over to me and hugged me. She immediately took note of my flushed face that had been tear stained. Before this, I had only cried three times in my lifetime, all because of Merel.

"What happened?" Sophia asked. "Is she okay?"

"I don't know. She just fainted and..." Going over the incident aloud again made all my feelings flood back in. "And I just don't know what's gonna happen. They won't tell me anything cause I'm not family." I sat back down, shaking harder. "I called her cousin Charlie. He'll be here soon, but I just didn't wanna put the stress on her grandparents and they're her only other family in Colorado."

"At least someone's coming." Charlotte said. "Did you call her parents?"

I nodded my head. "Yeah... You know, I always thought I was the most unlucky person I knew, but looking back I realize Merel has had it way worse than me."

"What'd you mean?" Tiffany asked as they all sat down.

"This isn't the first time we've been in a hospital waiting room because of Merel." Charlotte replied.

I looked over to Tiffany. "It's the third."

"Fifth for me." Sophia added.

"Don't let her realize it's the fifth." I told her.

"Why?" Tiffany asked.

"She hates the number five." Sophia explained. "Because of that movie I can never remember the name of where the chick has her baby in Walmart."

"Where The Heart Is." Charlotte corrected her.

"It's one of her favorite movies. Sophia and I watched it with Merel the first time she was put in the hospital. It was towards the end of July and Merel was seventeen, I was eighteen. She was a junior racer, but she had a lot of enemies in a small town. Someone rigged her car and she crashed. She wears contacts to cover it, but that accident took her left eye. The second time she was hospitalized was when she was nineteen. I remember it was the very end of August because I was just getting ready to head back to college, and we were in Jade's shop. Someone came and shot up the place. Merel, Jade, and Matt's older brother, Shay, got shot. That day had to have been the worst in all my life. And now this."

"It's sad to think about how somebody can get shot twice in just their teen years." Sophia continued. "When she was in ninth grade, towards the end of the school year, somebody snapped in her class and pulled a Columbine. The other time I had to go to the ER cause of her was when she got in a fight and she got stabbed. She's had A LOT of bad luck."

Just as Tiffany went to say something, Charlie walked in. He said his helloes but I pushed him quickly to find out what was going on. He went and talked to a doctor and soon was back. I say soon, but it felt like forever.

"What'd he say?" I asked desperately.

"You won't like this." He replied.

Charlie was about six foot and he had a lean body. His dark hair looked like it belonged on Justin Beiber's head and he had earrings like a rap producer. He looked nothing like his sister, and a lot like Merel.

"She was poisoned."

I sat back down in shock. What the fuck? Who would do that? How would they? Then I heard the doctor.

"You can see her now." He said.

I shot up and luckily the others didn't follow. As soon as I came into the doorway I slowed down and just took a minute to bask in her beauty; oh God, her beautiful face. Every line, every inch just perfect and I was so close to losing it. I slowly approached her and she looked at me with glossy eyes.

She smiled. "Hey Cowboy." Her voice was weak and low.

I grabbed her hand and kissed it. "Hi beautiful."

I seriously wanted to cry. So close, inches to losing her. I hate that feeling so bad, so damn bad. There was a seat in the room and I pulled it up next to her bed. I held tight onto her soft and weak hands.

"How you feelin' gorgeous?" I asked.

"I've been better." She replied with a sigh.

"I'm just happy to see you alive." My voice cracked while I was fighting my emotions.

"Hey, babe, I'm fine now. No need to cry over it."

"You don't know how hard it is, every time I have to see you hurt; every God damn time." I took a deep breathe. "Did the doctors explain what was going on?" I asked.

She nodded her head and the smile vanished off her face.

"Don't worry." I said as I stood up and kissed her forehead. "I'll kill the bitch that tried to take you from me. I'm going to go get the others."

I walked out and grabbed everyone else. We talked and sat with her for a while, the whole time my temper rising inside of me. At some point they all decided to leave, but I stayed.

"Baby, please go home." Merel told me, taking note of my tired eyes.

"I don't wanna leave you." I replied. "I have a fear to close my eyes because you might be gone when I open them."

"I'll be fine. Please, just go. For me, go get some sleep."

I sighed. There was no fighting her, plus I need to do what makes her happy. I kissed her on the lips for the first time that night. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep, but a little white lie will help her rest.

Once home, I wanted to break something. I was going a little insane, like the kind of insane where you have to look twice every time you blink to make sure you were seeing straight. My breathe kept getting trapped in my throat. I haven't felt this way in a long time. I thought this had all gone away.

I went into my room. I knew exactly who did this, I fucking knew. That cunt. I'll strangle her with my bare hands once I find her. There was pictures in my desk of her that I had written on and stabbed with a knife the last time she pulled something.

I grabbed those pictures, anger in my veins and pinned one against my wall with my switch blade. I took about ten sharp files and hung each picture of that bitch.

I need to calm down. My conscious is kicking in. Damn that voice that rings in the back of my head. I ripped the fake desk bottom out of my dower and grabbed a pill bottle. I couldn't even see straight enough to count 'em. Frustrated, I threw the bottle at the wall and pills rained down everywhere.

I looked down to my hands. I'll kill her. That's all I can think about. I'm gonna kill her for ever laying a finger on my girl; my life.
