Chapter 20: The Good Stuff

»Aleks' POV«

"Hey Eddie, would you mind if we talked?" I asked.

"Suuurrre." Eddie replied almost weirded out but the sudden behavior change in me. "I'll be right back Ash."

He stood up and we began to walk to the backyard for privacy. Already he didn't seem happy and I hadn't even confronted him. We sat next to each other and I looked at him, not knowing how I should say it. I took a hard swallow.

"Eddie, I know you slept with Ashley." I blurted out.

Eddie immediately got defensive. "Fuck you! I didn't!" He shouted as he flew up.

I stood up and without even thinking I hit him across the jaw. "You're a piece of shit. I know you did! Merel has the pictures to prove it and guess what? She sent them to Natalie. You know Natalie? That girl you once would give your life for? The one you'd talk about having kids with, and the first time you were nervous to ask a girl out? The girl you called me at two AM to tell me you kissed her? Remember her? All that stuff, that's the good stuff! And you threw all of it away. How do you feel now?" I shouted at him through the whole speech.

I know it was mean, but he needed a little tough love. He sat back down and rested his elbows on his knees with his hands together and his head down. A tear hit the concrete and that's when I got taken back a little. Eddie's cried from happiness before, but never from sadness. Never have I seen him shed tears like this.

"I really fucked up, didn't I?" He said in between sobs. "I deserved that punch. I threw away my life."

He looked down at his hands like he had murdered someone with 'em. I grabbed his phone off the table and held it up to him. He looked up at me with glassy, bloodshot eyes.

"Don't just sit here and cry. Fix it and apologize."

He grabbed the phone and with shaking hands found Natalie's number. I watched his face lose hope slowly after each ring. Finally she picked up. I wish I could hear what she was saying

"Baby please just hear me out."

*pause*

"Please for gods sake hear me out. I was a fucking idiot. I wasn't thinking and I did something incredibly stupid. Aleks even punched me for it and to be honest I deserve a million more hits. You are my life. I don't wanna lose you. I love you more than life itself. I'd kill for you that's how much I love you."

*another pause*

"Thank you thank you thank you! I love you to death. I'm heading home right now to see your beautiful face, okay?" He hung up and as he stood up he pulled me into a hug. "Thank you Aleks, and sorry for being such a dick lately."

"You're welcome and it's okay. You think I haven't done some shitty things before? Now get home to your girl!"

He ran in the house and yelled downstairs that he was leaving, then went out to his car. I heard his motor start and soon he was gone... gone home with his sweetheart.

»Later«

I grabbed my keys and stopped at that ugly ass mirror to see how I looked. I wore a pressed shirt with dark jeans and my blue beanie my baby bought me a while ago. Seamus came downstairs with Merel right behind him, their hands intertwined.

"Where you off to looking so nice?" He asked.

"Airport." I replied. "Tiffany's flight got canceled for Thursday, so it was either wait another week or get her ass in gear and come three days early."

"Well she's one lucky lady." Merel smiled. "Can't wait to meet her."

"I can't wait either. She'll get a real kick outta Sophia's adorableness."
