»Seamus' POV«

Surprisingly, the next month or so flew by with flying colors. That's with the exception that a week ago Steven told me he was dating Lily, like I didn't see that one coming. They both are HUGE flirts and terrible at hiding things. I'd bargain to say it was even more obvious than Merel and I, but in the end I'm happy for them.

Now, Merel and I are on our way to her parents' house. They live in the middle of nowhere. It's a small town in northern Wisconsin. Even though they own about a hundred acres of land, you wouldn't know it. The house is a small little ranch, with a guest house and a storage garage. Thank God, her parents insisted we stay in the guest house. I don't like hotels in the least bit, but I know I won't be able to do any funny business knowing her parents are right across the driveway.

It's such a deserted area that we have to drive three hours after our flight. I don't mind though because it gives us a lot of time to talk. I would be happy no matter where I was, as long as I had Merel. She was smiling as she looked out of the window of our rented pick up truck. Merel really enjoys being back home and breathing the fresh summer air.

As we reached a red light of a small town we were passing through, I studied her soft face. She smiled at me and I kissed her, tasting the pink lemonade on her lips.

"Someone's happy to be heading home." I said, focusing back on the road.

"You know it!" She giggled. "I miss the sweet, humid air."

Another red light... fuck you small towns. I grabbed her hand and yanked her close.

"We could always make our own sweet steam." I whispered.

She laughed and kissed me. Then some asshole honked at us, even though the light had yet to change. I looked at the car next to me to see two knuckle-head teenagers.

"Hey, fuck you buddy." I yelled.

"Fuck me?" He shouted back. "I'd rather fuck your girlfriend!"

The other one joined in. "Yeah sweetie why you hanging with this loser? You wanna suck a real man's dick?"

We both blew them off, but I seriously wanted to pound their faces against the concrete. The red light was lingering, so, just to piss them off, Merel leaned over and kissed me passionately. Then she flipped them off and laughed. Normally, in the city, she'd never do that. I guess it's different out here because everyone knows her name.

Merel's been an anonymous author for almost two years now, but she's known from her racing days throughout the Midwest. I soon realized as their friend piped up from the back seat that she's still known.

"Guys? Don't you know who that is?" A raspy voice asked.

"Shut up Jon! It's bad enough mom made me bring you!" His meathead brother replied.

The boy rolled down his window all the way. He must have been about fifteen.

"I'm sorry, they don't have a clue. I know both of you from Immortal's stream. I'm a big fan."

I was shocked. I thought he meant he knew Merel. Wow, it's rare I meet fans out here.

"Thanks, and we're used to it." I replied. "Nice meeting you."

"You too." He smiled.

The light turned green, finally, and we were gone. As I drove, I found myself admiring the tall trees and open roads. It smelled so beautiful as the wind blew through my open window. Merel turned up the radio. Of course every station was country, and the song that popped on was Where I Come From by Montgomery Gentry. It was a perfect fit to where we were, and where we're heading.
