Chapter 24: Family Reunion

»Sophia's POV«

I was sitting in the drivers seat of Merel's car. I never really got a car to be honest... my bad. I either got a ride from someone else, or borrowed a car, or even rode the bus. My reason behind it is I'm a very indecisive person and there is WAY too many cars to chose from. Merel did have a beautiful car though; a 2008 Chevy Camaro. AKA the same car as Bumblebee from Transformers. It's painted the same as Bumblebee too, except neon green instead of yellow.

I always felt awesome driving her car, but scared at the same time. I hate that every "what if" in the world seems to live in MY BRAIN. It drives me insane and so I always think about all the different ways I could get hurt, or damage the car. I know they're all dumb thoughts and have small probabilities, but I still worry. Call me paranoid if you want, but I've been that way as long as I can remember.

I'm getting off topic (I do that a lot too). I'm on my way to the airport to pick up Lily! And Addison and Olivia, but I'm the opposite of happy to see them. Addison, like I said before, is five years older than me. He has a kid and he's married and junk so we're complete words apart with nothing in common. Olivia is three years older, and she is all business. Her whole life is work, but somehow she landed a man. As kids she always bossed me, and she was the goody two-shoes that told mom everything! Sadly, not much has changed.

On the other hand, Lily was one of my best friends when I was growing up, and still is. She's a year younger than me. In fact, she just graduated from art school. One day I'll see her paintings in Time Square, I just know it! She's amazing and always makes me laugh. That's the way siblings are supposed to be! Not like Olivia thinks. In her mind it's a competition. I do get sick of competing, but now that I'm dating James I finally have something to brag about.

She always talked about how amazing her job is and how outstanding her husband is. I'll admit, she does have an epic job. She's a photographer for Vogue. I see her pictures in news stands and stores everywhere, which is awesome, but it's something I could never compete with.

I used to think I wouldn't be able to compete with her husband either. He was a translator for politicians, and traveled all over. James might not have a better job (even though I think it's better), but him and I have something Olivia and her husband never did; true love. There. I said it. Olivia doesn't know true love and I think that's why she's so mean.

I didn't mean for my brain to go this deep into thought. Oh well! Now I'm at the airport. Lily ran straight up to me the second I saw her. We both shared a tight hug. She stepped back and smiled at me.

"Hey boo bear!" She joked making a pawing motion at me.

I returned the gesture. "Hey boo bear!"

We both burst out laughing. Then we were snapped out of it by Olivia.

"Et hem!" She snapped.

"Sowwy." I stuck out my bottom lip.

She smiled. "Give me a hug."

I hugged her and I'll admit, when she rarely is nice, she's an awesome sister! Addison put his hand in my hair and screwed it all up.

"Addison!" I snapped at him, quickly using my fingers to brush the hairs back in place.

He laughed. "Oh, get over it Soph!"

"It's not funny!" I pouted once more.

"It is to me!" He joked.

I eventually brushed it off. We began to walk to the car and as I looked around I realized not much had changed. They were all still my dumb siblings that I've been forced to love.

Addison was tall and thin. His hair was shaggy and he never took care of it. It'd look a lot better if he'd just straighten it for once in his life. In a way, he looked like a rough, older version of Aleks. Although, Aleks was way cuter.

Olivia was dressed all tight and business lady-like. Ugh, she can be so boring. Her white blouse was tucked into her tight, black knee length skirt. She had skin colored pantyhose and black heels. Her hair was down, which was a pleasant change for once. Either way, she was still boring.

Lily was the complete opposite. She was wearing black bell bottom jeans that were ripped and she had neon blue leggings underneath. Her tank top was day glow pink and her long, dangling silver earrings went about two inches past her shoulders. She had such a cute sense of style. I still dress like that, but more toned down.

Lily, like normal, was pumped to be in Merel's car. She loved that car for some reason and I have no clue what exactly that reason is. Lily's normal speed is like my highest level of hyper. It made me smile to have that joyous ray of sunshine back around though. She bounced into the passenger seat.

"You people are sloooooow!" She complained.

I giggled. "I'm comin' gurl! Calm down."

She laughed as Addison was left to the luggage. Olivia was preoccupied on her phone and I needed to start the car.

"So." Lily said as we waited for Addison.

"Sooo." I replied, jokingly but confused at the same time.

"Sooooooooo..... I finally get to meet James?" She asked batting her eyelashes.

Olivia broke out of her cell phone trance. "Who's James?" She asked as her phone shined on her face in the dark backseat.

"My boyfriend." I replied.

"Not another." She sighed.

"He's different!"

"That's what you say about every guy."

I'm a little frustrated now. "This time I mean it." I glared at her in the rear view mirror.

Like I said earlier, she'll never understand it. She has never felt this way. James is my everything and I hope to God she won't ruin that for me.

I decided to drowned her out and turn on the radio. I started going through the six CD's Merel had in.

Bon Jovi- Slippery When Wet

Aranda- Stop the World

P!NK- Funhouse

Nickelback- The Long Road

The fifth slot empty, go figure. Finally, the sixth slot was good!

Papa Roach- Infest

I skipped the first track and went straight for Lily and I's jam! Last Resort! She started car dancing as I turned it up. I really missed her being around. Maybe she would wanna move out here with me...
