The sun had begun its descent, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold. A warm breeze rustled through the palm trees, carrying the faint hum of music from a nearby beach bar. Y/N felt her nerves coil like a spring as she stood at the edge of the makeshift fútbol field, her toes curling into the sand.

Miko jogged over, her auburn braids bouncing with each step. She was even more striking up close, the sunset's golden light casting a soft glow on her features. Her tattoos seemed to come alive, shadows playing across the intricate designs that wove along her arms and shoulders.

"Glad you decided to join," Miko said, a teasing smile on her lips. "Ready to show off those skills?"

Y/N swallowed, her heart thumping so loud she was sure Miko could hear it. "I... yeah, definitely. Just don't expect too much. I'm more of a spectator."

Miko's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I'll go easy on you. Maybe." She winked, sending Y/N's pulse into overdrive.

The game resumed, and Y/N quickly learned two things: one, Miko was really good, and two, playing fútbol in sand was way harder than it looked. She stumbled more than once, her legs sinking as she tried to chase the ball. But Miko stayed close, giving her pointers and encouraging her with smiles that made Y/N's heart do somersaults.

At one point, Miko challenged her. "Alright, Y/N, let's see your best shot." She stood as goalie, her stance confident, eyes fixed on Y/N with playful intensity.

Y/N's mouth went dry. She was terrible at this, but the way Miko looked at her made her want to try—really try. She took a deep breath, focused on the ball, and swung her leg back before kicking with all her might.

The ball flew... straight into Miko's stomach.

"Oof!" Miko staggered back, doubling over as her friends burst into laughter. Y/N's hands flew to her mouth, her eyes wide in horror. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry!"

Miko looked up, still clutching her stomach, but her eyes were bright with amusement. "Wow. You've got a killer kick."

Y/N's panic melted into laughter. "I was aiming for the goal!"

Miko grinned, straightening up. "Maybe you should stick to spectating after all." She jogged over, still laughing, and nudged Y/N's shoulder playfully. "Or just aim better next time."

Y/N blushed, her skin tingling where Miko's shoulder had touched hers. "I'll work on that."

The game continued until the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky now awash with twilight hues. They gathered on the sand, cooling off with cold drinks and sharing stories. Y/N sat beside Miko, their shoulders brushing occasionally, sending sparks of electricity through Y/N each time.

Miko leaned back, her tattoos illuminated by the soft glow of a nearby bonfire. "You're not from around here, are you?"

Y/N shook her head. "No, just visiting. My friends and I are here for the summer."

Miko's eyes flickered with curiosity. "Lucky us, then. I don't usually see tourists brave enough to join a beach game."

Y/N laughed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I guess you bring out my brave side."

Miko's lips curled into that familiar lopsided smile, her gaze lingering on Y/N a moment longer than necessary. "Good. I like brave."

They sat in comfortable silence, watching the waves roll in, their laughter mingling with the sound of the ocean. Y/N couldn't believe how easy it felt—being here with Miko, sharing smiles and stolen glances.

Eventually, Miko stood, brushing sand off her shorts. "Same time tomorrow?"

Y/N looked up, heart thudding in her chest. "You want me to come back?"

Miko's eyes sparkled. "I want to see if your aim gets any better."

Y/N laughed, her cheeks flushing. "I'll be here."

"Good," Miko said, her voice soft. She hesitated for a moment, her eyes searching Y/N's face before she turned and jogged back to her friends, her braids swaying behind her.

Y/N watched her go, her heart soaring, a giddy smile spreading across her face. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough.
