I push Niall off me causing him to fall to the empty floor on my left side. With a throbbing stomach and side I pull myself up from the floor. Gatlin's eyes focus on my sweet girl in her bed rather than me standing right in front of him. He doesn't look at me nor Niall, all his attention is on Halle. He looks at her as if he is a blind man seeing light for the first time. He walks over to her, nudging my shoulder with his as he passes me, and runs his fingers along her chin, the bridge of her nose, and then through her long hair. It is a simple touch that belongs to a significant other, that belongs to me.
"I suggest you stay away from her." My voice comes out low and gravely, almost like a growl. I take a step forward and I push him away from her and take my spot in front of her. Gatlin take his eyes off from her and finally looks me in the eye. Right as his eyes meet mine a smirk comes across his face. He places his hands in his pockets and squares his shoulders.
"And who are you to tell me what to do, hmm? The last I recall I am the first love." My chest tightens at the mention of their past relationship. "And the last time I checked you broker her." He lets out a humourless chuckle as he speaks to me. Niall comes up to my right side with narrowed eyes. He holds his arms across his chest and glares at Gatlin. For this one moment, for this one person, we forget about the fight we just went through and the words that have left our mouths. We focus on the guy that is now a threat.
"So did you." The smile that once was spread across his face drops at the sound of my voice. "You think you're better than I but I would have to say you are the same if not worse." His cheeks flush red with anger and his hands begin to shake. I tense up in front of him, prepared of the swing that is building up inside of him.
"You son of a b..." His hands reach out but right as he tries to touch me, the door to the room opens causing him to stop mid stride. Isabelle comes into the room with her mobile in her hands and her eyes trained on it. She doesn't notice the intruder standing in front of me.
"Okay, Harry. I've fixed...."She looks up at us then stops at the sight of the blonde. Isabelle looks from me to Gat then back to me. Right away she picks up the tension that is coming off me. Her eyes notice my rigid body and shaking hands. "Gat, what are you doing here?" Her voice comes out low with her apprehensiveness. Gatlin smiles at her then goes over to her and wraps her in his arms in a hug.
"I came as soon as I could." She smiles up at him but beneath that smile I can see that she is not as excited to see her as he is to see her. As Isabelle speaks to Gatlin, I lean over the rail of the bed so that I am closer to Halle. I press kisses to her cheek and neck then caress the bruises on her neck with my lips. I press my lips against hers, hoping that I with each caress of my lips it erases his touches.
"It's you and me baby. I won't let him get between you and I. I promise you." I press soft kisses to her skin, sealing my promise. As I give her my love I feel eyes on me, watching my every move. From the corner of my eye I see Gatlin glaring at us. He stands with his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes narrowed. He is the intruder, he's another problem so why does he feel as though he is the one who is the hero or meant to be something more than just a friend. Isabelle nudges his side causing his eyes to leave mine.
Thank you. I think quietly to myself. I take the seat next to Halle's bed, angle my body towards her's, then I sit back with my hand in her's. Lightly, with the tips of my fingers, I trace the soft skin of her hand and arm. I circle around the black and blue bruises that are marked on her soft skin. I begin to hum to her, knowing she can't hear me but continue to do so just in case there is a slight chance she does somehow feel that I am here with her.
"So beautiful my darling." I whisper to her. She doesn't move or show any sign of hearing my voice. She lays here trapped by her own body and mind for her own safety. How do I fix her? How do I make up for everything that I have done that got us here? Chills go up my back as I feel eyes begin to glare holes into me. Gatlin stands across the room with his back to the wall and his hands in his pockets.
"Do you mind?" I ask him, glaring back at him.
"You shouldn't be able to touch her." His teeth clench together with his anger. I feel my own blood begin to heat beneath my skin at his ignorance. How can he not see the person who can keep me sane, who can keep me whole, who is my soul is in this hospital and in a coma? How can he not see that this isn't about him, this isn't about me, this about making sure that Halle recovers completely. That she wakes up from this coma and she heals properly.
"How hard is it for you to grasp that I am her's?" His lips set into a frown at my words. Suddenly, it all becomes clear to me to why he is here, why he is so prominent to getting her back. "You hate me because you know I'm a better boyfriend to her than you were. You know you can never love her like I can. You know that she will never love you the way she loves me." Once again I am met with a hateful glare. His blue eyes are frozen with anger and hate.

"You don't know anything about Halle and I."

"I know enough to know that there is no you and Halle." Before I can say more Luca comes walking into the room. Bags are etched beneath the skin of his eyes, his colour is a bit off, and his shoulders are slumped as he walks. Never once have I seen the Martinez boys so weak and down. They all look the same, defeated and worried. He picks his head up and makes eye contact with all of us. For a second a small stretches across his face but it doesn't reach his eye or lift his cheeks.
"Morning y'all." He greets in a tired voice. Luca goes over to the bed then presses a kiss to Halle's forehead.
"Morning bug." He whispers into her skin. This time his voice sounds more sad rather than tired. He looks down at his sister with scared, pleading eyes. I can't imagine the pain he and his brothers must be going through. As a sibling, you are with your brother or sister for most of your life. So when something changes that it causes a pause in life. I can't even imagine having my sister in a situation like this let alone in a hospital bed. My skin crawls at the thought of Gemma pale and hooked up to endless machines. Gatlin snaps his fingers at me, breaking the nightmare that I am thinking about.
"I am getting her back." He mouths to me so that Luca won't hear him. Luca stands with his back to us so he doesn't see the threats and glare Gatlin and I send towards each other.

"No." I whisper in a strong voice that only he can hear. I place my hand back in Halle's and put my fingers through her's. Our palms touch allowing me to calm down. I bring her fingers to my lips and press them to my lips. Over and over in my head I repeat the promise I made her not just five minutes ago. We sit across from each other glaring, daring not to move or back down. I keep my eyes narrowed and my shoulders squared. We've come so far to get pushed ten times back and letting him take her away from me will surely make everything seem worthless and the end of me.
