Last chapter Jonah had asked Y/n about the signs, What's happening with him now?

•••••

Jonah had been aimlessly roaming around the store, kind of doing his job but mainly thinking about his conversation with Y/n about the posters. 'I guess she has a point, but it's still against store policy.' letting out a sigh he walked out of the aisle he was in, which coincidentally was near the Patio section of the store. He had only glanced over at it when the bright white poster boards caught his eye, seeing that they were all hung up.

Letting out an exaggerated sigh, he had a feeling on who put them up. Considering he hadn't been yelled at for not doing it himself...

He left to go find Y/n.

Jonah was shocked to see that Mateo was looking for her as well. Mateo gave him a skeptical yet hesitant look but disregarded what he was thinking and came up to him.
"Jonah, have you seen Y/n? I can't find her anywhere! Also what's her favorite candy?"
Taken aback, he thinks for a moment. "Uh.. I think it's (fav candy), I've seen her eat it during break a couple times. And no I don't, I'm uh.. actually looking for her now."

Mateo looked him up and down questionably, before straightening his posture and holding his head high. "May the best man find her first. And I had the candy idea first!" Before Jonah could say anything, he quickly walked away leaving him astonished. "..ok?"

°°°°°

Jonah was the first to find her, apparently taking her break in the back of the house frantically zooming around what she would call a dressmakers dummy, on a wheeled stool. Walking up to her with kind of an attitude, he waved his hand so she could notice him since she had earbuds in.

Looking up at him with confused widened eyes, she had a bobby pin between her tongue and two front teeth as well as scissors in one of her hands as she had been cutting fabric off. Shrugging one of her earbuds out and sticking the bobby pin into her pin cushion tied to her wrist.

"What's up?"

"You uh.. you put up the posters didn't you?" Sighing as she realized what this conversation was about, she turned back to the work in progress dress. "Yea I did. Sorry for going behind your back or whatevs but I have other stuff to worry about them some dumb poster drama."
He looked at her confused, "what? Uh what do you mean? It was between me and Amy." "Yea but then the whole store gets involved.. I can't deal with that right now."

Coming to a realization that she was right, he dropped the poster topic. Focusing on what she was doing, he could tell she seemed stressed. "Are you ok? You seem very into this.. dress?" She groaned at his question, rolling back in the chair to examine it. In all fairness it just looked like long white fabric all pinned together. Running a hand across her face in frustration, as she continued to examine it.
"It's my stupid professor. He gave us a project to use our creative freedom. Which is ironic because lately it seems like he hates when I'm creative with my pieces."

"Can I see?" Slightly taken aback, she looked back over at him, "At.. my pieces?" Nodding in response was all she needed before rummaging around the loose pieces of fabric all around her, looking for a torn book.
Handing it to Jonah, he gratefully took it and flipped through it. Studying his reactions it was hard to tell if he liked what he saw in it.
It was almost like his eyes brightened when he saw a sketch based on red pandas, "I love how you added a resemblance to a tail on this one. You know I saw a documentary on red pandas and it talked about how they're bushy tails are used..-" "-to balance whiling climbing and to keep them warm, yea.." cutting him off with an embarrassed laugh, "I think I watched the same one to get inspo for that design, one of my favorites actually."

Jonah smiled at her in response, continuing to flip through her book. It made her feel nervous for some reason. "Did you ever end up making it?" Spinning in the chair a bit, "ah no, just never got around to it."

Closing her book and handing it back to her, he studied the mannequin. "You have tons of great ideas, why not use one of those?" "Thanks.. I don't know, I guess they don't feel.. creative enough for this?"
Humming in response, Jonah started to walk around the Warehouse they were in, looking around at all of the unstockded items. "Well.. you could use something here right?" Following his gaze, she let out a sigh. "I did think of that.." looking at Jonah as he tried to help with her project, her eyes couldn't help but notice a big 'CLOUD NINE' sign that was tossed away. Looking back to him, he was already staring back when he noticed the wheels in her head turning.

"You think of something?"

Famous last words..

20 minutes later, Jonah could be seen on a ladder (still not being held In case he were to fall, so much for arguing) trying to get the last box of tossed aside employee vests down. "You sure Glenn won't get like.. mad about this?"
Y/N, who was safely on the ground, was rummaging through a box he had already gotten down. Shrugging "It's not like we get that many new employees in this shit hole. Besides he already has a box in his office"
"Oh.. ok then, shouldn't be a problem right..?"

As he struggled to reach the box, the ladder gave out a bit. Causing it to slip and Jonah clinging to the shelf for dear life, even if he was only like 3 feet in the air. The box of vests had fallen off causing them to fly all over the place, but that was the least of his worries. "YN! Uh little help please!"
Looking at the mess, she let out a sigh and pushed the ladder back up all the way so he could get his footing back.
"You good?" Letting out an exaggerated sigh of relief, he nodded and looked down at her, finally holding the ladder for safety. "Yeah.. yea I'm good."

Holding eye contact with him, she couldn't help but smile. "Thank you.. for helping me with this". Returning the smile, and moving a step down from the ladder. "Of course, friends help each other."
