So sorry it took me so long! Forgive me! I got distracted.

I have a book recommendation for you guys. 'Elevator Pitch' by Evelyn Leigh is so good! It's an interracial romance. Black woman, Asian man. Spice is out of this world but it's also so sweet. If you happen to have kindle unlimited, I highly recommend.

I hope you enjoy the chapter and excuse me for any mistakes.

Jayson's POV

"I don't care." I told my agent in a monotone voice.

"Do you want to go on a break? Take some time for your family?"

"No. I need something to get my mind off of everything going on."

"That's the thing, it's all your mind is thinking about. It's showing in your game. People are saying-"

"Again, I don't care. I don't care what people have to say. I got a lot more serious shit to care about and them mufuckas are not it."

"Jay." Naomi said softly from beside me. Her tone sounding like a warning.

"Sorry." I kissed her hand. "But it's true. They gon do what they always do. Talk."

My agent met me at the hospital since this is practically where I live these days. He's getting whispers and concerns from the front office and people around the league, and online.

I haven't told anyone outside of our family what's been going on and I'm not going to. I want to keep her as close to me as possible. She's not up for auction or going to be on public display. I refuse.

We talked for a little more before he left. I looked over at Naomi and she was already looking at me.

"What is it?" I chuckled and got ready for her to tear into me.

"You're crashing out."

"I'm not but if I was it would be warranted."

"Well yeah but I think you need to be smarter babe. After I'm gone you and the kids still have to survive. Don't allow your emotions to burn bridges. You're going to need them."

"Need is a strong word but I get what you're saying. I'm just tired of people being on my ass. I haven't even been playing bad."

"I think they're more upset about you ducking the media."

"Now that is something I really don't care about. They're the last people on my mind. I'm not about to sit and answer the same questions or questions I don't care to answer when I can be with you."

After every game I'm at the hospital. I've been fined so many times this year and still no amount of money lost could make me stop coming straight to the hospital.

We sat in silence for a little. I know she cares so that's why she's on me. Even at her lowest she always makes sure I'm good. I'm going to miss her more than words can describe.

"I'm hungry." She said and I sat up kind of abrupt.

"You are?" I asked shocked. Lately she hasn't expressed that she's hungry. It's very rare.

"I am." She nodded. "Remember that diner we went to a long time ago? I think I'd like that."

"Ok. Tell me what you want and I'll have it delivered." I pulled my phone out. I'd go but I want to be with her every second of every day.

"Actually I was thinking we could go ourselves."

"How? You're in here."

She looked around then whispered in my ear. "Let's blow this joint."
