I sat down on my bed and stared at the ceiling, feeling sorry for myself. Tears didn't fall anymore, I think my ability to really feel was gone.

I heard my cell ring out, The Darth Vader music playing in a demeaning manner by my window. I glanced at it and ignored it, waiting for it to stop calling out.

It eventually stopped, and I was left in silence once again. My door opened and gran walked in, with her shoes on.

"I'm going now Sebastian," she said quickly and shut the door, not expecting any reply from me.

I leant back as I was left alone with nothing but my-

"SEBS!" I heard gran call quickly. I jumped up and ran out, ready to defend gran or help her, not even questioning the random burst of energy. I looked around as to where she could be, and saw Fern's door opened.

No, no no no, don't, not now...

I walked to the door slowly, remembering what the doctors told me.

You may lose her sometime, simply out of nowhere, she will just drift away, death could happen at any moment. Prepare yourself for that, young lad.

I prepared myself mentally to say goodbye to Fern. By the time I reached the door, I was already thinking about a speech to write for her funeral, and what she'd wear.

I walked into the room slowly, and Gran had her hand on Fern's wrist... I saw a shift of movement...

And suddenly those striking brown eyes were staring at me.

"Fern!!" I yelled, and I ran to Gran's side.

Fern looked around confused, and blinked slightly. Her eyes then focused on my face, and with her unsmiling expression, she replied, "Sebby."

I looked at her cautiously. "Fern, are you okay princess?"

She looked at me and suddenly looked very old, and very tired. "I want Daddy," she whispered. "Everything's gone..."

Fern lay back and closed her eyes. "No," I whispered. "No, Fern, no," I cried. Gran started fiddling with the machines. "Is she still alive?" I asked.

Gran sighed with relief. "Yes, yes she is. I think she's just gone back to sleep. I'm going to call the emergency services, we can bring her to hospital and maybe... maybe she'll be okay."

I nodded and sat by Fern's bed side as Gran got her phone out and dialled the emergency number. She began to explain what had happened, and I looked at Fern fondly.

This meant I could finally get my happiness back. If Fern was mine again, I could hold onto what was left of me, and she would be there, I would have my family, I would be good maybe.

Things were looking up, finally, oh lord finally.

"Sebs, they're on their way, get Fern's clothes and your own, we'll be there a while," Gran said as she began to get her own things.

I ran into my room and I packed my bag, getting my phone and quickly dialling in and number.

It rang out 2 times before the voice appeared on the end of the line.

"Hello?" Marcus said, his voice deep, giving me Shivers.

"I don't know if you'll care, but your sister is awake, so maybe you can give and shit and go down for mam," I spat coldly.

He sighed. "Whatever, fuck off, I'll be there when I want to be." The line cut off.

I had tried.

I called Iris and she was at my house two minutes later, helping us. The ambulance arrived, and they took Fern with Gran inside. I rode in the car with Iris and her mam, and we reached the hospital within half an hour.

Fern was rushed in, and I waited behind the doors, praying she'd be okay, praying for hope, just praying...

Just hoping...
