What if Cell Was Picked for the Tournament of Power?

After a long night of heavy debates, talk of price money, a bit of pleading, and a dash of threats, it appeared that Universe 7 had finally secured a proper team for the Tournament of Power, with the exception of... well...

"Bulma's prize doesn't change that we're still down a man..." Shin muttered.

"Yeah, and we're almost out of time!" Beerus replied, shouting at the top of his lungs. "There must be someone else! The universe is enormous! And yet all the decent fighters seem on, or from, this teeny booger of a planet!"

Beerus hissed, pointing to the incomplete team.

"We would've had such an issue filling that tenth spot, if you goody-two-shoes weren't killing every monster that came your way!"

Did you catch-

"Perfect, just perfect!"

Did you catch that? One slight change in tongue from Lord Beerus would birth a very different idea from Goku. An idea that wouldn't involve reviving the monstrous Frieza, but rather...

"I've got it!" Goku perked up, slamming his fist into his palm. "We'll get Cell!"

The remainder of the team immediately froze, turning to question the decision.

"Excuse me?" Android 18 was the first to protest.

"You're talking about Cell? The same monster that killed you, Cell?" next was Krillin.

"Dad? Are you sure about this?" followed by Gohan.

"Are you joking, Kakarot?" and then Vegeta.

Goku quickly raised his hands to protest.

"Just hear me out, guys!" Goku spoke up to defend himself. "We can ask Baba to bring him back, only for a day! He'll fight in the tournament with us, and then he'll go back to being dead!"

Tien would speak up next. "But Goku... Can you even trust him?"

Goku actually chuckled at the question.

"I don't really know!" he shot a funny smile. "Honestly, my first thought was Frieza, actually! But trying to convince him?"

He shot a raspberry.

"But then I thought of how much stronger he got in so little time! Plus, Cell's always been excited about fighting strong guys, so the Tournament of Power would be fun for him! Not to mention, the guy's given us time in the past, so what's the harm?"

Android 18 stepped up, bringing her hand to Goku's chest and poking it. "If you even think I'm going to work together with that monster, then you're far from mistaken!"

Goku raised both arms, before cracking another smile. "Oh, come on, 18! You're already getting your money! And I'm not saying the two of you have to be all buddy-buddy! We just need to work together to win! That's all! "

Goku giggled.

"And besides, he killed me and I'm fine! What's the worry?"

Vegeta clenched his fist in anger. "Kakarot, are you listening to yourself? You want to bring back Cell, the same monster who nearly doomed us all, and lest to you forget-"

"Alright, that's enough, already!" Beerus shouted over them all. "I don't know who this 'Cell' person is, and I don't care either! But we need a tenth member and I don't hear the rest of you lot suggesting anything!"
