Your muscles ached and your skin was sticky with dried sweat as you walked into the compound with Natasha. You'd spent almost every day of the last six weeks trying to master belly dancing for your upcoming undercover mission. Natasha and you were set to infiltrate one of the most violent Mexican cartels. They had their hand in a little bit of everything; drugs, guns, human trafficking. The government had been monitoring them since they operated so close to the border, but they had never let their operations go any further than that...until a few months ago.
There was evidence that the cartel was now operating inside the United States. Numerous drug related deaths were attributed to the cartel's product and the cases were rising each day. Several gun shipments were tracked moving into the US. When the receivers were arrested and questioned, they each named the cartel once they were promised a deal. Missing persons cases were increasing along the border and all evidence that had been collected pointed towards trafficking by that specific cartel. With things escalating and death tolls rising, Natasha and you were called in to target and eliminate the hierarchy of the cartel.
The kingpin of the cartel, Miguel Alvarez, frequented a club in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. His favorite of all the acts were the belly dancers. He treated the girls nice and even played matchmaker for them by pairing them with his officers. But there was always one girl that got special attention from Alvarez until someone better stirred his interest. With your Mexican heritage, SHIELD was hoping that you would be able to catch Alverez's attention...but that meant training nonstop to become the best dancer you could.
"I don't want to do this anymore, Nat." You groaned as you walked into the kitchen.
You fell into one of the chairs at the island and let your head rest on your arms.
"Oh, suck it up." Natasha replied and sat a bottle of water in front of you. "It's not that bad."
"Maybe not for you, Miss. Barely Breaks A Sweat, but some of us plebeians aren't as lucky as you." You lifted your head and cracked open the water bottle to take a swig.
Nat laughed and patted your shoulder. You sat and talked to her about the mission until it was half past four. If you wanted to be ready for your date, you needed to head to your room and get ready, but you were procrastinating. You met AJ at one of Tony's parties. He worked as an accountant for SHIELD and, while he was a little boring, he seemed sweet. After a month of talking, he finally asked you out. He wasn't the man you wished you were going on a date with, but that was never going to happen. Bucky Barnes was your friend and teammate and that's how it was going to stay...unfortunately.
When you first joined the team, you didn't expect to catch feelings for one of your teammates. You were excited to be part of the team and wanted to prove that you deserved your spot. Since Nat was your best friend and she was dating Steve, you slowly became friends with Bucky. After a few months, the two of you started hanging out without Steve and Nat, but it never went farther than that.
"I need to head up and start getting ready for my date." You said and stood from the chair slowly.
"Ah, AJ finally asked you out, huh?" Nat cocked her eyebrow and smirked.
"Who's AJ?" A voice asked from behind you.
You spun around and came face to face with Bucky.
"N-no one." You said quickly.
Bucky's brow furrowed and his mouth pressed into a hard line.
"He's not no one." Nat corrected and you cringed as she kept speaking. "He's taking Y/n on a date tonight, which she's going to be late for if she doesn't hurry and get ready."
