CHAPTER 4

I raised my hands in front of my face to shield it. 'Oh god! Oh god! OH GOD!' I kept thinking to myself. Please god, whatever happens let it be quick....but nothing happened. I slowly lowered my hands, to see two boys that I recognized all too well, about to burst into laughter. "GOD DAMMIT JOHN AND LUCAS!!! You scared the hell out of me!" I pushed past my new twin brothers. "Your face- was -funny as! -I regret nothing!" John said laughing in between words. John was quite tall, pale skin, dark brown hair that waved just under his ears, deep brown eyes, he was pretty attractive. His brother Lucas exactly the same, the only way you can tell the twins apart is Lucas has a birthmark on the left side of his neck. Personality wise their pretty similar. Lucas is a little bit more quite than John but none the less the same. I fastened my pace again, trying to avoid them. Yes funny prank....not so funny after what happened today with the creep, Jason. "Sarah, don't take it to heart, it was just a bit of fun!" John said in a nicer tone. "How was your first day Sarah?" Lucas asked. I turned around and gave them a half smile. "It was okay, made some new friends, got all the classes I wanted," was attacked by crazy guy named Jason. Yeah I think I'll keep that part to myself... "All in all, it wasn't a terrible day," I added. "You made some friends? Who? Maybe we know them?" John asked eagerly. "Uh, well there's Megan, Rob, Andy and Andrea." I said smiling, I felt proud of myself for making some many new friends on the first day. "Oh yeah, they're not a bad bunch I suppose, but tomorrow you should let us introduce you to our group!" John said. "Umm, sure?" I replied, "Hang on a moment, why are you guys walking I thought you guys had cars?" "Oh we had a free the last period of the day so we got home early. Your dad said you were walking home so we decided to walk back with you, considering we didn't see you all day." "Thanks guys." I really meant it too. I had this feeling that I didn't like. A feeling like I'm being...watched? We got back to the house, I thanked the boys again and I ran straight up to my room to flop on my comfy bed. I just wanted to sleep, I felt so exhausted from the day. As soon as I closed my eyes, I let it all take over and drifted off into a deep sleep. ---------- 3 hours later. I could hear someone saying my name softly over and over again. "Sarah" said the voice. "Mmmmm" I mumbled. "Come on Sarah it's time to wake up." The voice replied. "Dad?" I said, slowly waking up.

"Yeah honey, I know you're probably exhausted from your first day but dinner is almost ready and I don't want you to miss out on the big family dinner before Carol and I have to leave." Carol and Dad had decided to delay their honeymoon so that I could settle in to my new home and feel comfortable before they had to leave. I really appreciated them doing so. They were leaving for Italy at 11:30 tonight and would be gone for 3 weeks. They thought it would be a good idea to have a big family dinner for their send off. "Okay, okay, I'm up- I'll be down in 5," I said lazily. I heard the door shut and pushed myself up from my bed, washed up and headed downstairs for the big dinner. I saw Carol at the stove cooking, my dad setting the table and Lucas and John helping where they could.

"Need any help?" I asked. Carol turned around, "No, no, sweetie it's fine! We're just about ready." Did I ever mention how stunning Carol looked? She had this wavy light brown hair that hanged around her shoulders, her face was flawless the first time I met her I could feel the jealously dripping off of me. She was quite small so I'm guessing the boys got their height from their dad. Just after my Dad, she was the sweetest person I knew. Soon dinner was served, and it was delicious! Roast chicken with spuds and veggies, Carol was also an amazing cook which I heard Lucas had inherited. We talked, we joked, and we had a nice family dinner which was pleasant. Being just me and my Dad we never really did the family dinners because it was just the two of us. But all 5 of us sitting at the table like this was great. I had a smile on my face for the rest of the night. I double checked with my dad to make sure he had everything packed. He had this bad habit of forgetting the important stuff. Last time he went on a trip he forget his wallet, ticket and passport. So I like to just double check...just in case. We were nearing the end of his check list and I could feel my eyes starting to droop a little. "Your passport?" I asked. "Check," He replied. "Your toiletries?" "Check," "Your wallet?" "Check," "Your camera?" "Check!" "I think that's everything. You're done," I said with an exhausted smile. "Thanks Sarah, I'm going to miss you so much. I will call every few days to check in. Please call me if you need anything, even if it's just to talk...promise?" "I'm going to miss you too Dad and I promise I'll call if I need you," I said with a slightly less exhausted smile. We both took a suitcase down to the door. Carol was all ready and packed as well. She was saying her goodbye's to her boys and then came over to me. She crushed me into a hug. "I'm going to miss you, don't let the boys boss you around okay? Make sure you put them in their place from time to time okay?" "Haha! Yeah okay, you guys have fun!" I replied warmly. And with a final hug from my Dad, they got in the cab and headed off to the airport. Lucas went back into his room and John went over to the lounge room to watch some T.V. I went into the kitchen. I always liked to have a cup of tea after a long day. I found the kettle but no luck in finding the matches. Carol liked old fashion things, so she didn't have an electric kettle so I had to use the stove. But I couldn't find the damn matches. John must have heard the noises I was making and came over. "So decided to rearrange the kitchen have we?" He said. I noticed that I had basically taken everything out of the cupboards looking for those matches. "I'm looking for the matches. Have you seen them?" "No I haven't Mum usually keeps them by the stove, unless we've run out." "Just my luck, doesn't matter I'll just go without the tea," I said, disappointed. "No, No hang on...Uhhh," I could see John doing something to the stove. When I looked he was finished and there was flame on the top of the stove. "How did you do that? I thought there weren't any matches?" I asked curiously "Haha, you shall never find out!" He said. He then pretended to have a cape and dashed out of the kitchen.

I will never understand his humour. "Thanks?" I yelled. I proceeded to boil the water and cozied up to a warm cup of tea on the couch. "Man this has been a looooong day" I thought to myself. I sipped on my tea until it was all gone, quickly had a shower and snuggled into my warm bed. Fingers crossed my second day of school would be better. As I started to drift off to sleep I could hear a light tapping outside my window, on my balcony. 'Eh it's probably just some birds,' I thought.

I turned myself over so I was looking outside to the balcony. I suddenly became frozen with dread, I was scared stiff!

There outside on my balcony, was a large ominous silhouette of a man.
