CHAPTER 18
I found out that I was in the pack recovery room which was in Jason's house, sorry I meant mansion! It was huge! Today, on my third day I was able to leave. I had been under very strict observation and there were always two guards at the door on Jason's orders and he only left me once the whole time I was here and that was only for a few minutes. He wanted to make sure that I was safe, healthy and cared for at all times of the day and to be honest I think he was a little scared to leave me alone, like if he was to leave me for just a few second I would be gone again. People or should I say werewolves he lived with, which I found out was a lot started to catch on that something was going on between Jason and I and I knew it wouldn't be long till everyone found out that I was his mate.
There was a knock at the door. "Come in," I said.
"Hey sweetie," Jason said as he walks through the door.
"I heard you were being discharged today, but you know if you don't feel ready you can stay here another day or two!” I walk over to Jason and grab his hand caringly to reassure him that I am well and truly all better.
"Jason I know you’re only acting like this because you care but please trust me when I say I'm fine, the only thing I want to do is go see my family and friends and maybe go for a walk outside on my own," I said with a smile, trying to reassure him further.
"I understand that you want to go see your family and friends Sarah and I'm all for that, but I can’t allow you to walk around the streets by yourself. I just got you back and I don't want to lose you again," Jason said sternly.
"Jason, I thought you said you had taken care of the vampire situation? So what's the problem? I shouldn't be in anymore danger right?" "We took care of most of it. We’re just on the hunt for the main vampire now."
Did he mean Vincent? I know technically the guy kidnapped me and was using me as a bargaining chip but I saw him change towards the end. My stomach started to flip nervously; I didn't really want anything bad to happen to him. Maybe I just have a slight case of Stockholm Syndrome and don't want to see him get hurt.
"We recently found out that the group of vampires that took you were acting out on their own, even their vampire council is on the hunt for disobeying them," Jason added. "So if I have two supernatural groups looking out for these vampires I should be even safer shouldn't I?" I said, clambering onto any last reason for him to let me do things on my own.
"You just don't get it Sarah! I can’t leave you unprotected, you're only human and it’s too dangerous! So that means no walks on your own!" Jason was getting angry about the situation and I honestly did not want to get in a fight, so I just dropped it.
"Just take me home please Jason," I said, reluctantly. He stared at me for what felt like the longest minute of my life, it’s like he was having a battle within himself. "Sure." he grabbed my bags out of hands with one of his and grabbed my hand with his other and we started walking out of the recovery room.
---------------------------
10 minutes into the drive home, and the tension in the car was becoming increasingly unbearable so I was glad when Jason finally said something. "John and Lucas know about your situation and will be acting as your new bodyguards until further notice," He said, still tense. Hang on did he just say John and Lucas know what's going on?
"Wait, why would John and Lucas know? I thought this whole supernatural thing had to be kept under wraps?" "Carol, John and Lucas are all werewolves, Sarah," Jason said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"What?! Do you mean to tell me, the family my Dad just married into are all werewolves?! Oh god does my Dad know? I knew there was something off about them," I just realized what I said could be a little offensive to my werewolf boyfriend and started backtracking.
"Not that there is anything wrong with being a werewolf, Oh those wolves they sure are cute, I especially like--" I started rambling before Jason stopped me. "Sarah, it’s okay. I'm surprised you didn't pick on them either, they have to be the worst people at keeping secrets," A small laugh escaped our mouths and the tension that was there disappeared almost instantly.
We pulled up to my house, Jason went straight to the trunk and grabbed my bags and then came to my door to help me out of the car, but before I even made it two steps to the front door I could see two bodies rushing towards me. "SARAH!!" I heard my name being yelled out before I was tackled into a hug.
"You have no idea what we went through trying to find you! I'm so glad your back! Don’t your worry you're going to be safe with us! We won’t let anything bad happen to you again!" John was basically yelling at me. "We missed you so much! Oh and you don't have to worry about your Dad knowing about what happened, we said you weren't able to talk to him on the phone because you had lost your voice and we sent texts off your phone to make sure he didn't get suspicious. How are you feeling? Do you need to sit down?" Lucas added.
"I'm fine really, I missed you guys too!" we started walking towards the front door and just as we reached it I asked- "So when were you guys going to tell me that you were werewolves?" they both turned around and gave me really big smiles, like that would make everything blow over.
"Well you see, its actually supposed to be a secret and the alpha or the alphas son has to meet the person that might have to find out about our little secret, to make sure they able to keep it and we couldn't say anything until you met him…" Lucas said really quickly trying to get everything out at once.
"And hey! When were you gonna tell us! That you are the mate to our boy Jason here?!" John questioned back. "Duuuuude, this means our step-sister is going to be our Luna, weird!" Lucas added. "I told Jason not to say anything until I had gotten use to everything and was able to make up my mind if I wanted to be a part of this world," I said a bit quietly, as I felt a little embarrassed I hadn’t already said yes or no.
"Duuuuuuude, tell me she didn't say no!" John said to Jason. I could feel Jason tense at the change in conversation and that's when I was reminded what Vincent said, I could literally kill Jason by saying 'No' to him. "Guys, why don't you let Sarah settle back in. I'm sure she just wants to go rest," Jason said. I felt the complete opposite though, I wanted to go out and do things that I haven't been able to do since I had been captured. I wanted to ask John and Lucas more questions about being werewolves, find out if they had found their mates, I wanted to go see my friends from school and see how they all were.
Jason started to usher me upstairs towards my room before I could object and I knew that there was no point in putting up a fight when Jason would surely win. As soon as I entered my room I plopped on my bed and let out a long sigh.
“Oh bed how I have missed you!” I said with relief.
Jason put down my things next to my closet and sat on my computer chair just watching me. I wanted to know what was going on in that head of his, he looked so conflicted and uncomfortable. I
patted the spot next to me; telling him to come over. Without a word, he came straight over and laid down next to me on my bed. I snuggled right up to him and I could feel him start to unwind. We both started to fall to sleep together. I know it was only a few minutes ago that I was basically jumping up and down to go out and do stuff, but Jason always made me feel super relaxed, peaceful and right at home. Our bodies fit together like two puzzle pieces and I knew right then, in that moment that I could never not live without Jason. We were soul mates.
