A Giant Hiccup (Reader Insert)

Surprise Visit

An hour after the group had set off, the rest of the gang have been doing usual activities to pass the time. Hiccup is within his hut as he writes in a journal as he leans against Toothless who curls his tail around his friend. Hiccup finishes what he was drawing and closes the book as he stands up, stretching a little as he groans satisfied. "Ugh, I have to say, bud. I have never felt more relaxed." He says. Toothless softly coons as he lifts his head up from his front paws. Hiccup walks over and places the journal on the table, "I wonder how (Y/N) and the others are doing on their quest?" He asks out loud.

Toothless coos but then hears something as he stands up and the door to the hit is opened. "Hiccup! We have a problem." Astrid says as she hurries over to Hiccup. The auburn-haired man becomes alert as he gives his attention to her, "What? What is it? Is it the others?" He asks. "No." Astrid replies. "Something happening on the Edge?" "Yes." "The twins the cause of it." "No." "Then what is it?" Hiccup asks, his nerves getting worked up as he grows a little. "It's your dad. He's here." Astrid answers. Hiccup freezes, "Dad... Is here here?" He asks, growing a little more as he now stood seven feet. "Yes. And you need to calm down and remain that way or else your dad is going to freak about you being able to match the height of a mountain." Astrid states.

Hiccup listens to her and agrees as he calms down, shrinking back to his height. "Right. Right. Where is he now?" He asks. "The twins are keeping him busy at the stables. Best to get going now." She informs. "Got it. Let's go, bud." Hiccup says. Toothless walks with him as they exit the hut and Hiccup gets on the Fury and said dragon flies to the stables with Astrid following them on Stormfly. They soon make it to the stables and the dragons land, their riders getting off them as they walk over to the twins and Stoick. "And that is why yak butter is an essential to use when it comes to making bread taste better." Tuffnut finishes. "That was, uh, very informative, Tuffnut." Stoick says, then notices Hiccup.

He smile and walks pas the twins, "Ah, son, good to see you." He greets, laying a hand on Hiccup's shoulder. Hiccup gives him a small smile, "Hey, Dad, so... why are you here?" He asks. "Well, I wanted to see how you are doing. Along with the Edge. You don't mind giving your father a tour, do you?" Stoick answers. Hiccup thought about and a tour of the Edge is not so bad. "Say, where's Fishlegs and Snotlout? I haven't seen them." Stoick asks. Hiccup becomes nervous, but then Astrid appears next to him, "We sent them on a mission. Running out of some supplies." She answers. Stoick nods his head and Hiccup subtly sighs in relief, "Not technically a lie." He thinks.

"Alright, let's get to touring." Hiccup says as he claps his hands together. "Great. Come on, Skullcrusher, let's get you comfy in a stable." Stoick says and the Rumblehorn huffs as he follows his rider into the stables. Hiccup crosses his arms as he sighs. "So long as you stay calm, your dad will be none the wiser and will be gone before you know it." Astrid whispers to him. Hiccup nods his head at her words. "Right. And it's only for a little while. He's been here before." He says.

Hours went by and Hiccup was still showing around the Edge. The two were in the main hut and Hiccup yawns as his father lights a fire in the hearth. "Ah. Fine craftsmanship, son." He says. Toothless nudges his head against Hiccup's shoulder, jolting the young man to be awake. "Ah! Uh, I mean, thanks, Dad." He says. Stoick chuckles, "Well," He walks over to stand next to Hiccup, "It's good to know things are running smoothly here." He says as he pats his son's shoulder. Hiccup smiles, overall glad to have this time with his father. But then he looks pass his father to see the twins doing some wild gestures. He gives them a confused frown and Stoick sees that then turns around, but the twins act causal. He removes his hand from Hiccup and clears his throat, "Well, I'll go see how Skullcrusher is doing. Probably still sleeping." He chuckles then walks off. Once he is gone, the twins race over to Hiccup, "Hiccup, problem!" "As in we got to move now!" Tuffnut and Ruffnut say. "What is it?" Hiccup asks

"Apparently, the quest was not too long of a challenge to complete," Tuffnut starts. "And now the heroes are returning back to their homes expecting a warm welcome." Ruffnut finishes. Hiccup looks at them with raised brow, "What?" He asks. Toothless tilts his head in confusion to match his friend's. "Let's just say, Stoick may or may not be introduced to our guest." Ruffnut summarizes. Hiccup's eyes widen, "Oh, boy. Okay, you guys have the others take the back way, I'm gonna keep my dad distracted." Hiccup orders, getting on Toothless as the two make their way to the stables.

He soon makes it and gets off Toothless as he enters the building. He walks over to his father giving Skullcrusher some chin scratches. "Hey, Dad. So, uh, gonna be heading back?" He asks. "Aye, just wanted to make sure things are going well. And they are." Stoick says. Hiccup nods his head. "So, I'm gonna be heading back." Stoick says, walking over and to stand before his son. "And... I didn't come here to check on the Edge..." He starts. Hiccup looks at him, surprise by his words. "I came here... because I wanted to see you." Stoick admits. Hiccup smiles. But then...

*CRASH* The place shook. "What the-?!" Stoick exclaims. He, Hiccup and the dragons run out to find Hookfang on the deck with Snotlout on the floor with his face on it. "Uuuuuuhhhhh.... I win." He says, lifting his head up then slams it down. Meatlug lands next to Snotlout as Fishlegs gets off her, "I told you it was too close and you were going too fast." He scolds Snotlout. Hiccup massages his forehead as he tries to remain calm. Barf and Belch land next with the twins on their respective dragon, "Welp. We tried." Ruffnut shrugs. "And there is no shame in trying." Tuffnut adds. Hiccup lowers his hand to give the two a look.

But then, "Hey, we're back! And for the ingredients so I can start right awaaaaaaay...." (Y/N) trials off as she sees Stoick after Midnight landed and she got off her. Stoick sees her and she straightens herself while Midnight gives him a narrow look. Stormfly then appears and Astrid gets off her. "What is going on?" She questions. "I was about to ask about the new resident." Stoick says. (Y/N) holds her bag closer to her body as she becomes nervous and Midnight feels her worry as she wraps her tail around her.

Hiccup notices and moves to in front of Stoick, "Uh, Dad, meet (Y/N) and Midnight. (Y/N) and Midnight, meet my father, Stoick the Vast." He introduces. "Aye, and how did you all meet?" Stoick says. "Uuuuuhhhhh...." (Y/N) looks away, recalling how she and Hiccup first met and he what happened after. "Uh, Dad, how about we calm down-" "I am calm." Stoick says, as he starts to walk forward. Hiccup moves out of the way but as he steps back, he fails to notice where the flooring ends and misses his step. "Ah!" He exclaims, trying got reclaim his balance. "Hiccup!" (Y/N) notices and runs over along with Toothless, but Hiccup fell back.

"Son!" Stoick exclaims. But then Hiccup appears, now standing with his chest at level with the stables. He pants as he then looks at the others, "I'm okay! I'm okay." He assures. (Y/N) sighs in relief as she leans against Toothless. But Stoick, "Hiccup...?" He breathes out. Hiccup looks down at his father than realize his size, "Uuuuhhhh, so... I guess you could say I had a growth spurt." He says awkwardly. (Y/N) stands up straight, feeling the tense atmosphere. "Let's remain calm and talk in the main hut." Astrid says, walking over to stand next to (Y/N) to calm her while Stormfly clams Midnight. Stoick closes mouth and shakes his head, "I would like to know what is going on." He says. Hiccup looks away and feels himself grow a little more as his nerves act up. "Oh, Thor." He mutters.
