Episode 6: Do your best, Deku!

Wally Pov:

Between catching my breath, giving my statement to the police, rushing through the city to see if there was any sign of Zoom and Stain, and explaining to Melissa in great detail that I am ok, don't need a doctor, and am not stupid. Izuku had apparently already finished his first match of the one on one's. Claiming a victory over Hitoshi Shinso.

Albeit, a close victory. Which leads us to now.

"Kid, what the hell? You almost took yourself out." Izuku rubs his head sheepishly and Melissa mutters something about like master like student.

"He had a brainwashing quirk, but he was insulting my friends and I lost my temper." Melissa chuckles and smiles lightly. "How did you break its hold?"

"One For All. It's been strange since the cavalry battle." Immediately the mood changes as Melissa and I exchange glances with each other. "Strange how?"

"Well, I broke the mind control by seeing the other previous users. Really they broke the mind control. I think they activated OFA in my finger to cause me to jolt out of his control."

I nod my head, thinking back to my conversation with All Might.

"It seems we really have pushed OFA onto a new level. But you said it was also acting up during the cavalry battle?" He nods and holds his head like he has a headache.

"Yeah, right before Iida and Todorooki stole our headband, I had this surging feeling in my head. I could sense I was in some sort of danger. I think based on the negative emotions from his team. I wasn't fast enough to react. I was also just confused, but still. I knew it was coming without any way to know. I just... did."

I look at Melissa and think we may be crafting a similar theory. "Any thoughts, wise girl?" She blushes and looks at me with her pouty (cute) face.

"There are a lot of possibilities. Your lightning could've given you feedback on your opponent's movements in your vicinity. The past users could have been warning you subconsciously, but..." She looks at me and I decide to finish her thought.

"In either of those scenarios. Or any one that's similar. It doesn't explain how you could've known with no prior indication. Not even the past users could've warned you if they didn't see it was coming. That is...

"Unless they used a quirk." Izuku finishes. As we both nod. I can see his eyes light up in theory. The look he gets when his brain starts moving a bit too fast for his own good.

"But but but how? Does that mean the past users can still activate their quirks from inside OFA? Are their quirks a part of OFA like them? Does that mean they can affect both of us?" Before he can go any further I place a hand on his shoulder.

"We'll figure this out together after the finals. I promise. I've got theories and tests I want to run. This explains the weird sensation I felt in OFA during my fight earlier. But for now, you've got a tough match to prepare for against Todoroki." Izuku's face suddenly becomes focused.

"Izuku. Did something more happen?"

"Well. Todoroki and I had a talk after the cavalry battle. He was upset that I pressured him enough to activate his left side. And he explained to me why he refuses to use it. To win without. He...

"I know, kid." Izuku looks up at me, shocked.

"Endeavor is a strong hero. Who gave everything he had to climb to the top. Becoming number 1. But he could never surpass All Might. No matter how strong he became. Then after All Might died, and he became number 1. He was furious. Everything he wanted in a way where it doesn't matter at all. A pity handout. So he poured even more focus on creating a kid who would dwarf everything All Might ever was."
