(S2 Finale): Encounter

Izuku Pov:

After the fight, Kacchan ended up losing consciousness. Wally came over and carried both of us to Recovery Girl, who was watching all the fights in the observation room. After healing all of us, she then begins to chastise Wally for going all out too much. To which he just chuckles.

"The kids were giving it their all. And I was curious to see how strong they had gotten."

"Still, any further and their injuries would've become severe. Midoriya's back was almost broken. And the other one had a snapped leg."

"To be fair, he snapped his leg." Recovery Girl hits Wally with his cane, and he doesn't dodge. Knowing he deserved it.

"Take the kids to my office. Todoroki and Yaoyorozu are already there.

"Oh, if it's alright, I'd like to stay and watch everyone's matches. This is a great opportunity to analyze how far everyone has come so far with their abilities."

Wally shrugs at me, signaling it's fine. To which Recovery Girl rolls her eyes. Before Wally can pick up Bakugo, he weakly looks up at me.

"Wait, shitty nerd..."

"Kacchan, you need rest." I try to walk over, but move too fast and wince in pain. Recovery Girl begins telling him not to push himself, but his eyes don't leave mine.

"You said that power. It was borrowed, right?"

The room goes silent. Everybody stiffens at the topic. Wally tentatively steps forward. "Bakugo, listen-

"Can it, Speedy. I don't care about the details. Deku. That borrowed power. Are you making it your own?"

He looks at me. For once, there was not a deep hatred in his eyes. It seems as if there is genuine curiosity. I think about where this power comes from. The culmination of energy built from all the past users. I think about how I use it differently than Wally, differently than All Might. To how Danger Sense has become an extension of myself. And I've continued to stretch its limits and rules.

"Yes, Kacchan. It's not the same as it was at the start of the year. It's changed. It's my quirk now. And I'm going to continue climbing with it." I smirk. Technically, my quirks, but he doesn't have to know that part just yet.

Bakugo scoffs, but I swear I can see a faint smirk on him as well. "Deku the weakling. Now, some chosen one. And all that power. And yet I'm keeping up with you just fine, shitty nerd."

Now he smiles a shit eating grin that would make Aizawa Sensei himself proud. "I don't care if you're special. I'm different. I'll keep pushing myself harder than ever. I refuse to get left behind by you. I refuse to be your God damn extra."

The two of us both smile, and I can see Wally and Recovery Girl chuckle. Without another word, Wally escorts Bakugo to Recovery Girl's office as I stay and watch the other matches.

Just as I thought, it was great to watch everybody else finish up their fights. Even though I was bummed to miss out on Todoroki and Yaoyorozu. But we will be going over the tapes later in class. So I'll get to see them all fight later.

Everybody has truly come a long way. Not just in strength, but in mindset as well. Watching Mineta outsmart midnight, Tsu and Tokoyami take down Ectoplasm. Ochaco hit a really cool move on Thirteen. Really showing off her newfound martial art skills. Though it did look a little strange. Like Aoyama said something to her that made her lose her composure for a moment.

Still, almost the whole class passed. The keyword being almost.

Unfortunately, Mina, Kamanari, Kirishima, and Sato. But Aizawa Sensei said everyone will be allowed to go to the training camp. The failing students would have a punishment which, if I had to guess, would be personalized extra training with Aizawa Sensei. From the sounds of it, most of the class still thinks this will just be some fun camp trip. If I had to guess, Yaoyorozu. Todoroki, Kacchan, and I might be the only ones who suspect a summer training camp. Just from the way we all look skeptical.
